Now that has to be the WEIRDEST episode I've ever seen. So bizarre - I don't know what to think about it.

At its worst, this was a clipshow and the clips didn't even always make sense. Was it meant to serve as an introduction to the show? It began that way but then the flashes were no longer explained. Also it's a clip show and, even if there's a spin on it, there's no escaping the fact. Atlantis did it better...Still at least they mentioned "Wormhole X-Treme!" because I was thinking how similiar it was (only to be followed immediately by a metajoke about repeating oneselves).

The positive is just the general weirdness, mostly relating to the sort of meta jokes we got, such as:

    * Joe's wife saying Joe's stores weren't like what it used to be with character interactions, a complaint often levied at the show

    * Asking why they submitted the story about Seth because it wasn't very good (and yes, 'Seth' is a bad episode)

    * When they asked when they'd hear about the Furlings again and he said there'd probably be many stories... and of course there's been none...

    * Similarily we've waited for a followup to "A Hundred Days" to see if Jack has a kid and there's a joke here about it...

    * Acknowldging/mocking the fact that SG-1 pays homages to movies such as "Armageddon"

    * Giving a knowing wink about the audiences reaction to Sam's fianceé Pete (not popular with fans)

    * Showing the sort of fanboy nerdiness by correcting people's pronounciation of "Goa'uld".

    * The very bizarre way they discussed the Simpsons, despite the fact it was Dan Castellana doing the talking...

The episode comes across like the writers read fans questions/comments/theories and hodgepodged an episode around it. Some amusing jokes there only for long-term fans like myself... but I can't feel it's a good SG-1 episode. Just very very odd...

    Ok
I really enjoyed this episode. I know it had pretty much nothing to do with whats been going on but I guess its been used as a recap of the last 8 years. Leads me to believe that the season finale (the last two eps starting next week) are gonna be awesome. I really loved that part where he found out that Daniel was still around cos that’s how I reacted….(and yes I also cried when he died)
I think this must have been a really good ep for the writers to write, especially that part where Joe comes to the SGC and talks to jack, Sam and Daniel.
Nice twist at the end. Hard to believe that Dan is Homers voice though…
    Can’t wait for next week!

Yeh it was a bit of a cop out of an episode... Funny enough but still...

I liked the repo men "Brothers Grim Repo" and all the jokes like "how many times can these guys save the world... it's getting old"

It just felt like a real filler of an episode

I'm with Omega Red on this one - I loved it. I'm disappointed ixoy didn't add a poll this week because I would have given it top marks! (Yeah, I know I can add it anyway, but that would be effort on my behalf.) Maybe it just appealed to my sense of humour, but I was chuckling the whole way through. I normally detest the recap episodes, but I was enthralled this time.

My favourite comment from the entire episode was the guy asking when we'd hear stories about the Furlings, simply because of the amount of fans on here who pose the same question. I also loved the reference to the character dynamic and the repetitiveness of the series... one of the greatest self-parodies I've ever seen. Plus, I liked the humour at the end about Jack not locking his front door, and Joe's greeting of Teal'c.

I thought the only inconsistency was Jack not recognising Joe when he was confronted with him in his house - surely if he'd been seeing his life for 7 years he would have managed that?

It was a filler episode. As far as fillers go it was enjoyable but thats about it really.

Ohhhh and I noticed. If Joe was getting the flashes while Jack was writing reports on base, how did he know when antartica was being attacked?

And Jack wouldnt of been able to write a report on that given he was tripping on ancient knowledge :). Just a thought no big deal really

    Well to address one question,
Joe didnt know what Jack looked like either until he saw the photo of him. Presumably they never actually saw each other.

It was a bit ridiculous how they tried to create a completely unmentioned side story so they can throw in this clip show/tribute to Dan/whatever.

The one thing I will say is he is a rather decent actor. And just after watching Stargate we switched over to network 2 and saw that he was in an episode of friends.

Overall, I didnt like the episode. It was a waste. As one friend said, they have plenty of material in their 8th season, they dont need to resort to clip shows and filler episodes.

Perhaps its just saving their budget for the big climactic season finale. We'll see.

    SG-1

Spent the whole show waiting for it to go somewhere and it did.

"seeing the life of a barber for 7 years it was kinda soothing"
"bowling league thursday night - you got game"

    Busting my ass laughing.

    Also SG-A

John Sheperd the Intergallactic Pimp Dady.

Good enough Ep - your one was fairly fine. Plot a bit see through but it must go somewhere in the next Ep.

Really disappointed with this episode and here's why . What i really enjoy about Stargate is the action scenes and the producer's imagination of alien worlds and technology . None of these were really included in this show bar the hand device . Hopefully this is the flashback show for this season outta the way . I'd rate it 2 out of 10 . The 2 been for the good ending .

Ixoy was trying to but boards was being very very naughty and wouldn't let me. I might edit it but I think Mr. Angry you'd like to do it instead because I'm catching a bus in 6.5hrs time to the airport and I haven't packed anything yet, never mind trying to sleep (NYC, FWIW, and back on Monday so I won't miss any Stargate...).

Yeah, you get the idea. I could come up with a witty pun for the final option, but again, that would be effort. Then again...

So what you loved about this episode was summed up over 5 minutes, at the end.

    This episode was insulting.

Did anyone else get the other Simpsons reference? 'Twas a bit vague, but when Joe's wife was saying that that people were talking about the way he was obsessing over his stories, she mentioned Lenny and Majorie as two of the people that had made comments.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

    Who's Majorie?

Really? Id put it up there as one of the three worst episodes ever along with that one with the plant that got hit by the drone and the one with the blue crystals that made a copy of Jack
