Has anyone used the Line 6 Guitarport (www.guitarport.com)? Looks like an interesting product. Just wondering is it as easy to use as the site makes out. Reviews look OK. I like the fact that it means I can record some of my guitar fumblings onto PC! The price at $99 isn't bad either...

Looks interesting but I wouldn't expect too much for the price. It seems to be really, really geared towards beginners.

If your just lookin for summit to dick around with it's great value lots of different amp models and effects, it got great reviews in the guitar mags from what I remember. I've got the pod xt which I'm well pleased with.

I have one. When i load it up it asks me if i have a Guitar port or Guitar POD. THe 1st connects to the PC only, u can't use it live, and all the amps are modelled in the PC.

The second one isn't that much more expensive and i believe u can hook it up to the amp directly, so u get everything in a guitar port (use on the pc) + much more useful stuff u can use live.

One thing i hate about the guitar port is that it really needs it's own speakers connected to it. Won't send stuff to the pc and back through the PC's speakers. Grr. Well i did try this but from time to time u get massive amounts of distortion. It's a pain in the arse.

mansons.co.uk r doing on offer on them at the mo, i presume they'll post them. If not try ebay.

Yep, just for messing about with. Just being hunting about for one. Seems they (Line 6) won't allow any of the US retailers to ship outside the states so $99 goes up to €160-ish.....

I'll probably use headphones from my PC (the other half is on a rant about the noise :( ) so I don't think the speaker thing will be a prob.

It depends what your getting it for, it's really a learning and practice tool and for that its excellent and it will really help your playing. However if you are essentially looking for something to record with, it may not be the best choice but its still a cool little gadget. Anyway, there's some reviews of it on Harmony Central that might help you make up your mind.
