    Is it possible to buy direct from the UK Pixmania site instead of the Irish Site as VAT is less and UK site has Promo Codes that work?

    I haven't tried that but I would warn you to be cautious when ordering from Pixmania. They automatically add an item to your order called "Zen Engagement" which allows you to get a full refund if the product dies within 12 months. I noticed this had happened the last time I placed an order and asked them to cancel the order. They did cancel it but haven't fully refunded me. I've contacted them numerous times and they are insisting that I've been refunded but I certainly haven't.

    My recomendation is to purchase elsewhere. If you are looking for a camera www.nomatica.com are pretty good.

    Watch out cause nomatica do the exact same thing! The insurance/warranty is added but can be deleted before checkout. Nomaticas bundles usually include free post so may actually work out cheaper or only €1 more for a case + tripod

    I think i bought my printer from the french Pixmania. It worked out the cheapest but the manuals for the printer were in french

    I've had no trouble with PixMania and I know lots of people who use them.

    The Zen Engagement option is added, but shown before you pay, and you can then opt to remove it - you don't HAVE to get it.

    I have ordered a lot of things from pixmania.co.uk over the past few months and had no problem. I also opted out of the *Zen Engagement* but donated the £1 to the children, can't remember the name of the charity.
    In all that I bought, I found them to be much cheaper than shops and other web sites!

    Pixmania manuals are not always in English. I have been on to them about it. Selling something from an ".ie" address should have english manuals methinks!

    WHy? There's no law against it and you can easily download english manuals from manufacturers websites.
    At the end of the day you make a HUGE saving buying off pixmania in most cases, all because they source their products on mainland Europe.

    Oddly enough the pixmania support people agreed with me and said that they were constantly getting on to management about it. As for the "HUGE" difference in prices, that's certainly not true. I'll will not buy from them again. I bought for a friend who needed it in a hurry. If I was buying myself I would have bought from a reputible dealer on ebay. That's where you will see HUGE savings.

    I have to disagree with that, I find pixmania to be an excellent, reputible dealer. My friends and I have bought a lot of gear from them and we've never had a problem.

    As for saving money, here is an example:
    SONY Homecinema amp and speakers HT-DDW760
    Peats = €475
    Sony Centre = €450
    Ebay = €349
    Pixmania = €286 (+€15 P&P)

    We recently got a printer that came with french manuals and the driver cd was in french too.

    Its a bit of a pain, fair enough they are entitled to sell the stuff but they should state clearly what language pack it is.

    I bought a Sony TV from Powercity in Dublin and it came with manuals that where in every EU language **EXCEPT** English.

    I can forgive a french company sending french manuals, specially at those prices.

    Pixmania are one of the better online sites out there. I've made two quite positive purchases with them - one a Sony digital camera (saving me around €100!) and a Zen Micro (saving €30).

    Yes, they ship from France - so expect items to come with European plugs (although they through in an adapter for me last time).

    With the camera I also ordered a Sony branded memory stick - but they shipped a SanDisk model instead. I emailed them and they refunded the difference in price the next day.

    Yes, they will try and include that Zen Engagment rubbish - but it can be easily deselcted and it's not as bad as going into Dixons/Currys and them trying to sell you a 20 year warranty! :) Ignore the hard sell, and always say no thanks to that rubbish...

    If you dont opt for the Zen do you still get 2 years warranty with them?

    On December 8th, I bought a sat. nav. system as a christmas present. I paid extra to have it delivered by UPS courier. I tracked the package and it disappeared on arrival in Dublin. I contacted Pixmania and they refused to refund me my money to send another package. I was informed an investigation was in place and I would have to wait until this was complete - in the middle of January. In the meantime, I am without my 250€ and my sat. nav. The after sales service of Pixmania is disgraceful. I argued that my contract was with Pixmania, not with their courier, but it was to no avail. I got no satisfaction from their after sales staff. I will never buy anything from Pixmania again, and I would never recommend Pixmania to any one.:mad:

    i've got the same question as the OP. Can I buy off the .co.uk website? On their shipping page they say that you must buy from the website of the country in which it is being delivered. The item I'm looking for is not in stock in .ie but is on co.uk.

    Just tried to buy a christmas present from pixmania. At the end of the checkout they added in that Zen Engagement rubbish (9.20 on an order of 80 euro!). There's was no obvious way to deselect it. Total fail. That's the sort of behaviour you'd expect from Dixons or Currys. It's not a lot of money but its pretty bad form. Got the same item, cheaper, from the uk.

    I posted the very same on another thread here. I was about to order 2 items over the weekend, thinking I was saving 40-50 quid over bricks n mortar. Then they add this sh1te. You can actually remove it. I think you click on 'more details' or something like that. Then uncheck it from there.

    If you buy something from Pixmania and you don't opt for this, is there still a warranty in place? Do you have any comeback if something goes wrong??

    If you bought the sat nav with a credit card, did you try to put in a claim with yoru credit card company?

    I bought a digital camera through Pixmania and it arrived with no problems. I did see the Zen Engagement thing before I checked out but it was easy enough to opt out of.

    Pixmania are owned by DSG, who own Dixons/Currys/PC World. That could explain why they all try the same sort of hard sell on extended warranties...

    I phoned them to ask how to opt out of the Zen Engagement - sounded like they get that query all the time! It's straightforward once you know how, but it's not immediately obvious - which it should be.
    Other than that I havent had any problems with them - ordered a couple of christmas presents this year, which all arrived quickly.
    Just noticed the post about items arriving with a european plug, I'm off to unwrap a christmas present now to check that out!

    got a fuji s5800 120 euro, to get rid of zen engagement click on i in your basket scroll down on the pop up to the bottom and deselect no big deal.
    got ordinary postage and it arrived in 2 days was worried reading some of the threads no better or worse than most online retailers (elara being the exception in my experience excellent service so far) also noticed the price changing with the exchange rate.
    so on one purchase V happy but like i say had bad experiences with most online retailers

    In the case of your item not coming with English manual you will be able to download the English manual by clicking on a link in the “order tracking” section of the Pixmania website.

    I did several times. It only allows one download, but if you do happen to lose original pdf, contact them and they will allow you download again.

    Guys,

    I ordered a yamaha 4103 surround sound system on Sunday and it arrived today (standard DHL shipping).

    No arguements from me about delivery.

    The whole thing about Zen stuff is for the people who do not read whats on the screen.

    It is obvious to me that when you go through to the summary page it clearly adds the zen engagement (yes you need to click find out more) but if you actually read it you will see at the end you can choose not to include it.

    This is like booking a holiday online and clicking that you have read the terms and conditions and then a few weeks later trying to cancel and saying (well I didnt read the terms and conditions)

    Tip

    I have never had any luck in dealing with Pixmania. The latest being a camera order last Feb, incorrect one send, returned it to them, awaited delivery of correct type, two months later they said they had not received it, could not find it in their warehouse, asked me for proof of delivery to them which took me two weeks to get, from France, now this week they have lost that and have asked me to send it again. That is 5 months, so I have cancelled the order and asked for a refund which will possibly take another 5 months. Unless your delivery is exactly what you wanted, it is a nightmare to return anything to them.

    Lads could anyone tell me if the 2nd item i purchased (the ink),
    should be also listed under Product, in the Forwarding section?

    blau.jpg

    If that ink doesnt arrive and the they expect me to send back the entire package, and the monitor works perfectly, then ill just take the sting of the loss of 20 euro!

    Another few rows have popped up underneath now with both products listed so all is cool.
