I was told that a temp gauge cannot be used on Athlon 64. Something to do with the pins. Any thoughts?

as in there is no way to tell the cpu's temp via the mobo...?

id say you have been misinformed

well you can definetly check the temp via some mobo's (mine for example)..
he must mean something else

No No, I mean the separate led screen thingy that is usually on the front of the case. You can buy them and put them in floppy drive slot or some cases come with them, like mine. there is cables coming from this and has to be connected to the cpu for a reading. i think there is other cables to attach to the hard drive as well. Do ye understand now??

I think the guy was right, i was just looking at the semsor and it seems far to big for the pins in the cpu. Speaking of cpu pins was just fitting a new one to the motherboard and dropped the cpu. it hit the side of the case, putting quite a lot of pins out of place. THINK i got them ok again it went in but cud have broke a few on the way in. God i hope it didn't. It was an athlon 64 bit and the pins are really small.

    good luck with that

I am the guy he speaks of. You cannot put those temp guages in between the pins on a 64bit processor. They are too close together, wheras the athlons were spaced further apart.
I hope the tweaser idea came in handy. 150 to replace that chip. Have u booted up the machine to test it yet?
