    Try ebay

    maybe something like this

hard to get something under €100 but you might get a bargin ?

I just bought a Zen Micro for €180 inc delivery, but don't buy outside the EU or else those pesky customs might sting you for VAT.

Ya, bought that one form Ebay, great job very happy with it, have it for the gym and it has the radio as well which is great, plug it into your USB port, copy across your WMA or MP3 files and off you go

svp.co.uk are selling sd memory adapters that also function as an mp3 player for £19.99

I managed to get a 1 gig sd card for around €60.

Also functions as a usb drive.

You probably wont be able to get such a thing for that price, or if you do it won't be much good.

    i got one of these
for €80...have to be a bit patient on the bidding if youre not using a sniper thingy.

Amazing prices....never knew eBay was so cheap....what's it like, are you happy with the player?

Well I am happy with mine, sound it very good out of them and for the price you cannot go wrong. It maybe a hint plasticy but if you are not dropping it all over the place you should be grand

had a wee bit of trouble with the payment, ...i paid using paypal, got my pay receipt and shipping confirm receipt etc. but about 2 days l8r they asked me for payment again, i wrote to them saying id already paid etc. they replied saying it was ebays fault and everything is in order (in fairness they did sort it out uber-fast)
    ---
i havent got the player yet (only shipped last week) so cant reporton quality etc just now but ill let you know when i do...i also ordered a 512Gb for €50 ....cant beat those prices.

I must admit it was grand when i got my 1 gb mp3 but then little over a month and a half into using it to and from school it just packed in!! When i emailed the guy in hksuperstore he said they only have a certain lifespan which is unpredictable and id need to buy a new one. Funnily enough pixmania sent me TWO zen micros for 90sterling. I got one for my girlfriend for xmas and bout a week ago another one arrived! Now whos laughing! Sad but true.
Zens are the way to go! Save the money you'd spend on one of these and get something decent with a warranty, youl thank yourself in the long run!

the zen micros are 246euro on the irish site, how in the name of mary did ya get 1 never mind 2 for that price?

I've heard you have to pay an extra customs fee if you want one of those mp3 players on ebay sent to Ireland from Asia, does anyone know if this is true and how much it is?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 274 ✭✭tadhgrrr

no extra customs on the ones off ebay but you do have to pay shipping which is €20 and shipping insurance which is €5...(i included this in the prices mentioned above). not too happy to see chicken_foods story but i just checked back on teh webpage and heres there policy on defective goods...so you could have gotten it replaced (youd just have to pay shipping). mine arrived today so ill see how it goes :)

Well basically it was all down to DHL!! They shipped it but whenever i tried tracking the order it said it wasnt sent or there was no package. So after many complaints (it was getting to close to christmas!) they sent out another one and it got here within a matter of hours (18hrs!). They charged me 90sterling (for my trobubles) and the package that was 'mysteriouosly' never sent arrived not too long ago.

+ I tried sending it back to the guy but he was having none of it saying it was the only case of it ever not working hes ever heard. He was nice to deal with BUT not very good after service im afraid.

Try the top of a mountain.

You won't get 1GB for under 100 quid.

I ordered one of those 1gig of ebay on Wednesday. Payment has been received and was shipped on friday from Hong Kong.

Looking at the image of it and the greg pod above it appears to be the same unit but with an FM radio, and voice recorder. €80.50 all in.
I didnt get it off the HK superstore tho I got it from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Micwu128-Electronic-Shop_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm but it all seems very similar. The trying to get a bid in a the last 5 seconds is ***very*** frustrating

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 274 ✭✭tadhgrrr

my mp3 players (512Mb = €50 and 1Gb = €80 ) from the HKStore arrived last week and so far ive been very pleased, they function as a mem stick, mp3 player, fm tuner, voice recorder and you can even partition the drive so that one portion of it is password protected (handy for sharing/protecting your files). Theyre really light and take one AAA battery...the only downside is that the manual is written in japanese english and fairly hard to understand (btu at least youll get a laugh out of it). that said the thing is fairly straightforward to use.

It's only a player, no screen, and postage is 29.50

That's over 50 Euro - weren't Dunnes selling these Poratble DVD players (no screen) for 50 quid at Christmas ?

How do you get ebay.co.uk to display prices in euro?

Go to advanced search and chose your currency options half way down the search options

    1. is the 1GB actually 1024 MB = 1073741824 bytes?
    or is it 1 billion bytes = 953 MB = 0.93 GB?

    2. you have to pay 20 or 28 euro shipping, this means that the player itself costs 52-60 euro?

    3. have you tried the voice recording feature, does it record in mp3, wav, what distance from the mic, what quality?

    4. what quality is the radio?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 274 ✭✭tadhgrrr

    received mine yesterday

    1. the size of the player is 1'050'247'168 bytes.
    2. the shipping is €20 plus a €5 shipping tax = €25, cost of player was €50
    3. voice recording records in .wav format (32k) and is o freasonable quality, currently working in an office enviornment and it picked up typing noises from about 5-7 metres away.
    4. radio is excellent quality, earphones act as antenna and so far ive had no trouble picking up the main stations on it.

    hope that helps

"picked up typing noises from about 5-7 metres away."

I am not having that issue with mine here, strange? Don't think the battery life is great though, not 100% sure how long the battery will last but it seems to eat them up

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,807 ✭✭✭chump

I've got a wee mp3 player myself that eats up the aaa's ... anyone want to buy a large packet of rechargeables and divide it up between us? we only need 1 or 2 each...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 274 ✭✭tadhgrrr

i bought a pack of 4 700mAh AAA rechargeables for €9.99 in Argos...wouldnt really be worth your while splitting a pack at that price...by the typing noises i meant it was good (picking up pretty low sounds while i wasnt speaking into it).
main drawback so far is the inability to use folders etc to divide up music...it all has to be in the same directory which kinda sux...

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 16,724 Mod ✭✭✭✭yop

Ya I would be intersted chump but am waaay down in the sticks so it may not suit

true, itd almost buy you 2 pints nowadays :p
also i figured out how to divide my music into respective folders...its just that they all have to be in the root directory so you can discount my last post...mp3 players working fine n dandy!
