What faculty are you doing your masters in?

There are going to be a few refresher days in February methinks, where clubs and socs will be promoting themselves in an effort to get new members so keep an eye out for those if you're interested in getting involved in some.

    Avoid the 13A

    Have you any specific questions?

Engineering, I'll deffinitely be giving the clubs a look over as I was heavily involved in the Clubs and Socs of UL, hell I was a on the exec! Any particularly good/organised clubs/socs?

    13A?

The 13A bus ... Not a particularly pleasant place to be.

    RedBrick is the computer/networking society.

www.redbrick.dcu.ie is their website, worth checking out if you're interested in that kind of thing.

filmsoc is good if you like movies, they've 2 film nights every week as far as I can remember. They tend to have fairly recent films at it too.

    www.filmsoc.com is their website

If you're interested in sport the gaelic football and hurling clubs are pretty good, the rugby clubs are also worth checking out. The canoe club is pretty vibrant and the largest club in the college is the snowboarding club, they've great nights out and a trip is organised each January.

There's something to suit all tastes etc.

I'll try find the link to all the clubs and societies for you to have a look at.

DCU has a reputation of being a fairly dull college, but if you make an effort to get involved in the social nights and the clubs and societies you'll find that it can be good fun. A lot of people just aren't willing to make the effort to get stuck in and expect everything to be handed to them on a plate.

The library is pretty good, if they don't have mateiral that you need for your course they're very good at arranging for it to be brought in.

The main canteen is fairly reasonably priced and the food is decent enough if you compare it to some of the other colleges in the country.

The new gym and swimming pool complex is due to open in the next few weeks, so fingers crossed that nothing new will prevent that from happening.

There are loads of buses that go near DCU from the city centre and also from Swords/Clontarf etc. So travelling there is usually quite handy.

Uhm ... I can't really think of anything else I'm sure I've left out loads.

There was a lot of building work going on upstairs last Thursday evening. The covers are off the swimming pool and it's been filled.

It's been filled for ages. The res people used to always be in it at night last year. Some guys brought down an inflatable dinghy and all :)

    Thanks for all the tidbits.

Doing AutoCad with Mech/Man Eng. Heard from another lad that it was good and companies came looking for him instead of the other way round beforehand. He did Aero Eng aswell but up in Queens.

If want to play sports but you're not interested in playing competitively, the Postgrad Soc play indoor football, basketball, volleyball in a more 'casual enviroment'

its good alright. a few of my friends did it and all got what
they were looking for, job-wise. alot of continuous assessment. did a stint
with the mechanical school, they're sound. just don't go for a
building project at the end. can take time waiting for orders
and for workshop to get round to your job.

Thanks for that confidence boost. Alls well even though i had a hiccup where I wasn't appearing on the finance office database. Got it sorted, I was told that i could pay registration fees on the day Feb 7th at this stage. Still looking for a place though. Everywhere i visit has already gone, plus the fact that i have to travel from monaghan to check each place out means that i have to squeeze a couple into one day.
