    SpaceWeather

Major to severe geomagnetic and auroral storming is expected to commence following the arrival of two strong coronal mass ejection disturbances. A minor transient was observed in the solar wind near 09:30 UTC that should result in a mild enhancement of auroral activity over the high latitude regions. The much larger CME's from the M8.6 and X2.6 flares of 15 January are expected to arrive within the next 12 hours. A LOW LATITUDE auroral activity watch and a Middle Latitude auroral activity warning are currently active through 18 January inclusive.

    Get those cameras ready! :D

    Geomagnetic and Auroral Activity Update

Chaotic solar wind conditions continued to promote periods of major to severe geomagnetic storming and brief bursts of strong auroral activity over isolated regions. Geomagnetic and auroral activity is expected to resume at major to severe storm levels when the next coronal mass ejection disturbance arrives late in the day today (UTC time) or early tommorrow (late afternoon or evening hours over North America). Tonight may be the best opportunity for observers to catch periods of auroral activity.

    Solar Activity Update

Active Region 10720 continues to be a formidable sunspot complex and retains the potential to produce significant solar flares over the next several days. A strong proton-induced space radiation storm is in-progress.

    Geomagnetic storm in progress

IF **its a big IF** you have clear skies tonight be on the look out for aurora :D

IMPACT! A coronal mass ejection has just swept past Earth, causing our planet's magnetic field to shake and glow. A severe geomagnetic storm is developing. If it's dark where you live, go outside and look for auroras.
