This is the same one as Aldi are selling, Samsung writemaster, i got one the other day and it burns perfectly, my only quibble is that the software (pinnacle) is a bit ropey, for example when playing the Smashing Pumpkins DVD it kept jerking and skipping, however when i installed WinDVD it went smooth as anything, then again it may be my system as it's a bit old now.

But €65 for a dual layer DVD/CD RW is fairly awesome, I don't know how many they have left but I'd reccomend getting it pronto as it's the January sales price.

Also of note is the sale that Maplin have on, they've some great prices on cases and are charging €48 for a 450w power supply, from what I've seen that looks like a good price (though I may be wrong of course)

Hope this is of help to someone :)

    Al

you only get what you pay for
there just cheap clones of pioneers and sonys
id suggest to pay the extra few bob and get a brand name.
    think of the long term

i sold a few necs last year i got in from hk. got 30% back.
    so the truth is simply
you get what you pay for......
im itching for the european release of BLU_RAY
they say in japan that dvd was just a quick new format with a ten year life time.
if you read my other post on d-vhs
who would of taught that vhs was going to make a come back..

Yeah that's a fair point, but as a stop-gap until blu-ray comes out then it's not bad, I don't actually know a huge amount about blu-ray, is it the HD-DVD disc? do you have any links to any good articles about it?

    Thanks

There are two competing formats, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. We have another format war coming, ala VHS vs Betamax.

But I think this time around Sony has the upper hand with it's Blu-Ray format.

mobile04 it sounds to me from a brief reading of that and related articles that the corps want blu-ray, as it will offer good copy protection, greater size and possibly very offputting home-burner prices while the HD-DVD format is more a modified version of what we already have with just more space...

leaning towards HD-DVD, although I very much doubt it will win...
