Fortec Star 5000v2

I know little or nothing about satellite tv, but my uhf aerial was blown down last week and I thought, while I was having that replaced, it could be a good time to have FTA satellite installed.

My local dealer has quoted me €299 for full installation of a Fortec Star 5000v2 receiver system including dish. Seems like a good price to me.
I've spent a few hours googling (mainly groups)for info on 5000v2 but have got little or nothing. There's lots of info on other Fortec Star receivers.
My dealer also has Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra and 5100 Ultra receivers - I haven't checked with him for prices on these - he recommended the 5000v2.

I'm not really interested in any exotic channels - mainly want english language tv and radio.

I'm wondering if I should go for the basic 5000v2 receiver or one of the other uprange ones.

Would anyone have any advice, please?

    Thanks for that pbirney.

I've already got full specs but was really wondering if anyone had firsthand experience of the unit or if there was an independent review anywhere.

Next model up the Fortec range has "Advanced Power Scan" - I wonder if this is a worthwhile feature. I imagine any model will scan for available channels.

Most receivers can only scan known transponders. The power scan feature is very handy if your looking for feeds as many would be on transponders that are not used very often. It won't be any advantage on astra or hotbird but on others it could be useful finding footie feeds.
