Can anyone recommend somewhere good to go on a J1 this Summer? Maybe some of you have been out on a J1 before and you could share your experience of the places where you stayed! Has the J1 been an overall good experience for everyone?

I went to San Francisco on my J1. It was fantastic. I lived in Sunnyvale a city just south of SF but it was great. There was loads of work where I was staying. I heard it was harder to get a job in SF itself due to the amount of J1 students looking for jobs at the same time. Try and get one of the earlier flights to where ever you're going. Jobs will be gone quickly!

I went to Montauk Long Island NY. Absolutely brilliant. I applied too late for my J1 but went anyway with my buddies. This was back in 1998 so it probably wasn't as strict. One of the best things I will never regret doing.

New York. The biggest and the best. Not nearly as expensive as everyone makes it out to be either.
