So i'v been having a gander around and by now i'm very sick of searching for a DVD writer that meets the folling specs

    Ability to backup SAFEDISC 3.1
    Ability to backup SECUROM >4.85

    Thats it?
Any suggestions very much appreciated :D

CD-RW drives are MUCH better for copying games, so unless your game is coming only on DVD, then get a good CD-RW drive.

I have yet to encounter a DVD drive that can reliably copy games.

But alot of new games will be coming on DVD nowadays so it for them too
And also an upgrade from my ASUS CW5224A :D

    And just 1 more question,
Will games be using blu-ray\dvd-hd\some other fancy format by the end of the year or should i just get a dvd writr now?

No, i meant copy... but for backup purposes :P

I think cdfreaks should have all the info you need about making backups, including what burners are compatible with what copyright protections.

Here's the very thread you need!
