omg tell me anout it, I can totally relate.. go to parks and ask them.. they should advise you with somethin.. they know everything and anything about ghd's...

ok, for real.. you should go to a hair salon, they will probably have somthin for it, like a cream.. etc..

Buy a leave-in conditioner, they are really good. Are you protecting your hair when you use the GHDs, that heat protector stuff? If not, then I suggest that is probably causing the problem.

And get your hair trimmed every 6 weeks.

Says me who knows I should get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks but going to the hairdresser for me is like going to the dentist, I HATE IT! The sight of a hairdresser coming towards me with a scissors is just terrifying!

I had to get it trimmed about two weeks ago coz I hadn't got it trimmed since like September or something :D (I'm too over-protective of my long hair!) - I was probably the most annoying customer they've ever had! But luckily, the stylist was gentle and only trimmed about an inch off it, so that was okay :)

Toni and Guy heat protection spray is really good honestly. my hair is fairly long and i use it on mine all the time. Im paranoid about split ends too, and i find this spray very good.

Teh Lee Strafford Poker straight range is very good. My mum uses it and it keeps her hair from going to dry after she straightens it.

I've been using the serum from the Frizz-ease range and it helps a little, was using leave-in conditioner from Charles Worthington but didn't like it too much..

what kind of heat-protector stuff is out there that is not very expensive for a poor student!!!

most people don't use a GHD to pokerstraighten their hair, it's mostly to get rid of unsightful waves or kinks etc. my hair, naturally, is straight with a wave at the bottom, and the back bits stick out (cuz i have the most annoyin haircut in the world.... never get an a-line) so i use it it get ridof thems and leave it at that
and straighten the feck out of it when i'm feeling purty :P

You need to buy the Kerastesse (not sure on the spelling) deep conditioner called "Masqueintense", which is about €17 at Peter Marks. Wash and towel try your hair, put in the conditioner and leave it in for a couple of hours. It sounds like you'll need to do this at least three times a week to start off. Don't worry though, the pot lasts for about 2 or 3 months.

How bad *are* your split ends? Can you see through the bottom inch or so of your hair? Is it straggely at the ends? If so you really should get the ends chopped off; it's not doing you any favours to keep them.
