internal hd in external casing

    i recently purchased the above items
    i assembled the hd case and then put the hd in the case
    however when i connect the hd via usb to the computer
    it does not see it
    i am running on windows xp
    in the system tray the green arrow is present when the
    hd is connected
    does the hd need to be formatted or anything like tat?

    yeah you'll need to format the drive ... see if it comes up in the disk manager in the computer management section of the control panel ... not too sure how to do it on XP exactly ... if that does not work , you could try to format the drive 1st and then put it in the enclsure to use it ...

    Needs to be partitioned, needs to be formatted. See computer management under administrative tools in Control Panel.

    its comin up in the list of hardware devices in the control panel alrite
    any ideas of how to format it anyone? :(:o

    Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management.
    Select "Disk Management" on left window.
    Find your drive on the list. Right click on drive for actions....

    should i select primary or extended partition?

    I did this just the other day. Make it a primary partition.
