why not, but youll always know you took the lazy route and it will eat at you untill you cant take it anymore and rip the lot off.

yes you can.... i've seen it done many times. as long as it's not a vinyl-covered one that you're going over it should be fine.
I've taken paper off before which was more like cardboard than paper, due to the number of layers of paper on top of each other.....

It depends on the paper? Is it vinyl paper? if its shiny paper make sure its in sound condition and no paper is coming off also sand down the face of paper if its shiny and polybond it also, this is no guarantee.Put on the polybond and sometimes this can show if paper will bubble also. But stripping is the way to go,but i can sympathise with you as i hate stripping myself.

I wouldnt go to that much hastle over vinal wallpaper but sure if you do have vinal put a sheet up see how it gos, the paste will last a day or two after you make it if keep it covered so you will have time to remove it if the first test peices dont stay where you want them. All other paper as long as its smooth isnt hanging off then go right ahead. The paste if made thick and not watery will stick to almost anything, i stuck a sheet of paper over plastic and its still on and looks fine a year later.

Once took wallpaper off a wall in my great aunts house and there must have been 4 different sheets on the tiskest paper ive ever seen. But in saying all that I cant put it up unless its fresh on the wall.

    I did this recently -

    you will need a tri-square
    a carpenters pensil
a saw horse (old chair will do)
    a jig saw
    a floor laying kit

If you can manage it offer to help with a friends floor first (make you mistakes there first and get to walk away from them)
Or a mate who knows what they are doing - see above
If it is a semi or solid wooden floor pay a professional to do it for you
If you decide to do it yourself do not buy the glue type - they are cheaper but there are crap
Start at the fire place (as it offers a straight egde)
If there is no fire place start laying where you have a straight edge to work off.
Follow the instructions on the packet - they are there for a reason.
