Is the system link cable for the Xbox the same as a standard ethernet cable? Or has Microsoft put me in shackles again and I have to go and fork out my money on an "Official System Link Cable"? If so, how much are they? Ive Plugged an ethernet cable in and it fits perfectly. I just havent tried connecting 2 Xbox's together yet.

    Whats the story Rory?

Standard network cable should work fine, you might need a crossover but I dont think so. An offical cable will just come in a shiny box nothing special about it apart from the high price.

If your going to hook it straight to your modem/router then all you need is a normal ethernet cable.
If you want to connect to direct your pc then you will a crossover cable.

    For systemlink play
X-box to X-box direct connection needs a cross over cable
    X-box - hub/router - X-box needs a standard ethernet cable

By the way it is a piece of p*** to do - there's no 'set up'

Best bet is to get a small (and cheap) 4 port hub and 4 standard cables, a few X-boxes, TVs, some friends and beer - and Halo :D
