Need help in absence of Chorus tech support

My decoder appears to be on the fritz. For anyone familiar with the decoder here's what it's up to. This has only happened in the last 20 minutes, so it's not due to extreme weather.

When I hit the initial startup button on the remote I get the "Init" signal and the Choruss flash screen , then it just resets itself to display the time.

I have unplugged the decoder a couple of times and repeated this but still no joy. Does anyone know of this problem or of a thread in relation to it. Or maybe just leave it till morning ? Any thoughts welcome

I had a chorus box a few years ago - did exactly the same thing...chorus tech support sorted me out in a couple of minutes - you had to hold a button down on the remote for a few seconds - Im sure one of the folks on here will know which one it was.

Thanks for the info. :) I have tried every button on the remote and unfortunately it looks like I'll just have to wait for tech support in the morning.

Problem solved by those nice people at Chorus. Just in case anyone ever does have the same problem this is what you do.

The display on the box will be showing the time.
Press the top On button on the remote
When "Init" is displayed on the box, hold down the Chorus button on the remote until such time as the box displays "App".
The box will now be on Channel 90 and ready to use.

This solution resets the errant software that causes the problem in the first place.

Considering I was having that problem 2-3 years ago - you would think that they would have upgraded the firmware on the boxes by now - afaik those boxes are updateable over the network.

They are updateable over the network, but stupidly, unlike sky digital or ntl (where an upgrade will take place without your knowledge, usually during the night) with chorus, it will pop up a message on your TV screen informing you that there is a software update in progress and will give you the option of either accepting the download, or rejecting it.

A lot of people foolishly reject the download, so a lot of updates simply don't get through. Some boxes, if left powered onto a channel overnight WILL eventually receive the download, but a lot of people either power off their boxes (or even plug them out) overnight or they simply just reject it by mistake.
