    Have a gateway computer have to change bios settings.but dont no the password nor does the owner how can i change it.the cmos or the bat did not work when i tried it

    which model - not all Gateways are the same

    the battery trick is to turn off the PC, UNPLUG from the mains too and then remove the battery for 1 minute, 15 minutes , overnight (depends on how much residual power is held by capacitors or something - try each in turn)

    CMOS jumper - depends on the motherboard but usually involves a full power cycle with the jumper in the other position.
