From the iRiver site:

Why WMA files are not played?

The WMA file can be protected by the DRM or the used Audio codec is not the Window Media audio. At this moment, the WMA9 codec is not supported in full scale.

Are the files protected?

if WMA9 isn't supported fully, i doubt WMA10 is.

WMA9 is supported (I'm using that format on an older iRiver player). Its the DRM aspect of WMA9 that is not fully supported.
