    Summer Holidays

    Summer holidays,summer holidays
    The road fills with faces,the winter left behind
    Cut knees,tumbling trikes,lots of bugs to be found
    Remember December when the road was a river
    That’s gone
    We now have the sun
    Some showers,back garden expeditions
    Ladybirds by the dozen
    Sunshine visits from friends,a cousin
    Frozen drinks,blue ones,red ones brown ones
    The brown’s the best ‘cos that’s the coke
    Get off the dog’s head...she’ll choke
    The shed is a castle,the garden it’s kingdom
    Hours of daylight adventures until the sun slips away
    Into a cloud to bring bats and a soft blue dusk
    Pajamas,stories now the moon knocks at the sky
    Brings sweet dreams to children of
    Summer holidays floating by.
