Ok...nothing coming up on y screen..

Was playing half-life2 and left it at the main menu for a few mins...

Came back and the screen was frozen...had to reboot...now no video signal at all is getting to the monitor...

Stuck in an older graphics car (Matrox G450) to see I I could view even the boot sequence...but again nothing...

Does this sound like it's the motherboard?? or maybe the processor...on bootup, the HDD led flickers and all the usual, but can't tell exactly what is happening...

Is there anything on the mobo that can cause this??

    Appreciate any advice....

Getting any beeps when you boot the machine?

Is there on-board graphics on your motherboard? Did you try reseating the graphics cards? If you're sure everything else is working as normal (OS loading and everything), this could be tricky...

Hmm.. Have you tried using a different monitor? I know its a long shot, but it could be possible that it burned out...

I'll get back to you on the beeps...machine is at home...

The graphics cards were swapped, so in effect reseated yes...

I can't really tell if anything else is working as nothing is coming up on the monitor.....all I can see is a flickering HDD led (as you would normally)

Oh, and I tried a difff monitor too, and same thing happens...

Nope...no beeps out of the pc on bootup...this is bad I take it.......is that something to do with the motherboard kicking into action?

erm... when my monitor suddenly turned off and the computer gave no weird signals, I just pushed the graphics card in a little harder, and it started working. Maybe you will try this? could be contacts

Had the same problems a couple of months back. Most of the time it beeps but sometimes it doesnt. Nothing on the screen. Turned out my graphics card was dead.

I thought it might be the graphics card but when I tried a diff card (which I know was working)...I got the same results.....looks like it's going to be a new build....

Are there usually beeps when your PC starts? If there are, it's either something's not in properly (RAM, CPU, graphics card - triple-check them!), or something's most certainly died.
