Need to get travel insurance for a skiing trip. The cheapest i found for multitrip with winter sports was on www.gosure.ie (€60.55) and www.justcover.ie (€63 with vhi discount)
anyknow if either of these are any good\reputable?

Do you not get annual insurance with winter sports for 49 euro off vhi.ie if you're a member of the vhi?

EDIT: actually it's 78. I'd go with that.

A friend of mine got insurance with AIB last year (not sure if it can be got online). He said it was the cheapest he could find (something like 30€). He should know too he worked for BOI!

Got JustCover for 6 month ski & surf trip, covered most things but with any policy, read it before you buy, it may not be exactly what you are looking for.

Also, I know vhi have ski package and on first reading it seems pretty comprehensive. But this again depends on your option.

I suppose the only thing to really remember is that insurance companies are not your friend, they are there to make money out of you. Just make sure you know your are buying and whether or not you are covered.

travel insurance is generally a con
if youv'e been unfortunate enough to have to make a claim you'll find that the list of exclusions to the policy for stolen or damaged belongings is pretty extensive
the excess will also be quite high

make sure that you have adequate medical insurance, make sure you have the best possible travel cancellation/delay insurance, don't bring anything that you can't afford to lose/break/have stolen, those items you *do* need to bring with you check to see if your home policy covers them while you're on holiday
don't count on your insurance to cover **anything** and then you won't be disappointed :-)

This is why I can't understand that some package operators make it compulsary for you to have insurance (either from them or from elsewhere). Why can't people not have insurance if they want, once they know what risks they run!
