I screwed up the lcd display, I, er got agitated by something and gave the display a big poke, and now part of the screen cannot display, while the other part can. Is there any way to fix this instead of buying a costly lcd display replacement? I should have thought about it before I did it. :(

Jun Ji Hyu wasn't on screen when you poked it, was she? 'cos then you'd have an excuse...

Other than that I'd have to say it's probably buggered.
Theres a really thin layer of glass covered in a matrix of wires inside the panel, not much you can do to repair it.
    sorry

Eh, no... actually it was from pro evo 4, ref gave wrong decision and I got angry and... you know the story... crappy game.

I'll try Ricardo's link and send them the lappy... hopefully they'll fix it for a small-ish fee...

OK, how much would it to replace a lcd monitor on a lappy roughly?

If the laptop is more than a year old, about the same as an equilivant second hand laptop with a good screen.

you might be extremely lucky and only have moved the contacts,
on the other hand if the glass is cracked - game over.

Are there horizontal or vertical lines on the screen ?

yes, there are both. And there's also a part of the dispaly missing(blank). what's that signify?

It signifies that the cost of getting a replacement screen will be almost as much as a new laptop (if you can get a new screen that is).

I did the same thing last month and was told that all I couold do was buy a secondhand laptop of the same make/model and swap screens...

They have a look and give you an estimate. I think theres a fee to check it out though.

Less change of damaging the LCD if you just swap the HDD, though windows 2000 / XP might get upset and need to be reactivated...
Don't forget to move any extra memory at the same time if possible.
