I have UK Sky Card. Channels don't work?

Hi everyone, just joined forum! Looks the biz! Can anybody help me???
I just got a UK Sky card to allow me to receive UTV, Channel 4 etc. but it's telling me I need to call to upgrade my subscription? I have a current subscription to Sky but obviously I can't really call them!;)
Anybody know a way around this or how to get the channels working??

Leave it in the box for 24 hours, if you can't get ITV etc come back to us. Sometimes these cards need to stay in a box to get updates.
Let us know how you get on!!!
There could be other issues but try the 24 hour trick first!!!

What greenman said is correct.
As its saying call the broadcaster and the channels are in the epg list that means the card has been activated already, it just needs to be in for 24hrs probably to remember.

Drop a line back if that doesnt work.

same scenario with me recently followed this advise with added proviso of leaving it tuned into sky news

itv came first after an hour or so and 8/10 hours later ch4/ch5 emerged

Mine is the same as well but the channels never showed up in the EPG. I had to add them to the other channels is there any way of moving these into the EPG or am I stuck

Your stuck! you can't move "other channels" into the EPG. Someday maybe

Does this card not have to be activated by Sky? ie having to ring them up and giving the requested details or has all this changed?

Not a UK card. We are not supposed to have them.

This problem happened to me when I put the card in yesterday, but ONLY on Channel5 [ a message saying what Channel5 is about and to call the number to upgrade appears ]. I have the card a couple of months and C5 worked fine until yesterday.

The BBCs, ITVs & C4 on the EPG are fine.

I will try the 24 hour trick also as soon as i can.

I had this problem for a couple of months until I read this thread. I had thought that Sky had copped on to card numbers that were be used in Ireland somehow and barred them.

But, when I left the card in for 5-6 hours all channels miraculously came back!

First it was ITV1 (2 hours) and then C4 (4 hours) followed by C5 (6 hours). Also, I now have ITV2 which i never had before (I believe it is now FTV).

Thanks everyone for this thread. I had given up on ever seeing ITV/C4/C5 again on my TV!

Well all ftv cards have to be activated by sky and tied to a box(any box) prior to them working.
Once activated, they will work in boxes they are not tied to.

Correct. What I ment to say was you can't activate a Uk card from
Roi , unless you have a uk address, postcode etc. and you have to ring the UK number.
