This photographer basicially took some people, gave them drugs
and then photographed them while they were stoned to see what effect it had on them.

Check out the dude on mescaline! smile.gif

The real shock here is it's not even remotely funny. They looked normal in the pics but were really fu**ed up in the head.
This is a topic that should really be in humanities.

    Any admin wish to agree?????

Warning: I'm a little ****ed, so I won't be very exact with details.

The BBC did a documentary in 1955 on physcedelics that involved a presenter ingesting some mescaline, and a filming of what happened. The guy pretty much went to ****, and came out with a load of personal and spiritual type stuff. It wasn't aired in the end, 'twas deemed to be to disturbing, though tapes resurfaced a few years ago.

After some googling, it was actually an MP who agreed to take the drugs.

Actually, what you're talking about sounds like "The Doors of perception" by aldus huxley. He sat down with a psychologist, took a load of mescaline, and the psychologist asked him a series of questions and recorded him, then when back to normal he wrote a book about the experience.

A pretty good idea, should give more information about affects/side affects and possible adverse reactions to the substances in question. I don't condone drug use but people should be properly informed if they're going to act on curiousity. And this site could make people curious.

As mescaline etc. have been mentioned in this thread I'm providing a link to one of the many Terence McKenna sites on the web. He was probably one of the most informed human beings on psychedelic drug use (and misuse). But unlike Tim Leary etc. was an excepted and highly respected academic.

If you've hear the second album by The Shamen, it's the one with ebeneezer good on it, he's they guy talking on the last track.

    ............
this week i have mostly been reading...
Acid Dreams by Martin A Lee and Bruce Shlain.

It charts the development of LSD 25 from its humble beginings as a Rye Fungus ergot. The suspected cause of the medievil blight St Anthonys Fire.
Whole villages were chronicled to have suffered collective madness for a period of days after eating bread milled from flour infected with ergot.
The last known outbreak was in 1951 at Pont-Saint-Esprit in france.
The Book follows its development through CIA tests first for use as a truth serum, then as a tool for suppressing memories of interrogated
suspects, then as a potential tool of insurrection and sabotage of cities and millitary installation watersupplies.
Some of the tests were slightly unorthodox,
ARTICHOKE examined the possibillities of training/conditioning persons to kill whilst in a trance like state.
MK-ULTRA sought approval to test lsd on unsuspecting citizens.
At first technical services staff the division running MK ULTRA tested lsd and their reactions to it on themselves, under supervision.
Realising peoples reactions would be different to the drug if they were prepared for it and under laboratory conditions, notification times were first cut, then abolished.A member of tss could expect to have his food/coffee spiked without warning whilst he was going about his routine tasks.A TSS staff member would then inform the subject of his participation and the subject would be releived of duty and asked to chart their responses, whilst pulse rates and other lab tests were run.
TSS being a small division soon ran out of fresh study subjects.Requiring subjects that had not previously experienced the effects of hallucegens and the nature of the tests which made normal drug testing channels a security risk.TSS began running tests on other departments.Any member of the CIA could at any time without their prior knowledge become a test subject.
Security officials became so concerned about the unscientific nature of the tests and the alledged "collective madness" that had gripped TSS.
A Internal Security Memo dated dec 15 1954 warned LSD could cause serious insanity for periods of 8 to 18 hours and possibly longer.
it concluded that it was recommended that there should be no attempt to contaminate the christmas punch bowls present at the forthcoming CIA christmas parties.
Not all the test subjects had favorable experiences on LSD,in what could be the ultimate bad trip, one opperative on discovering he had been spiked fled the test building and fled across washington, hotly pursued by a number of research and security personel.
From his report later it was determined that to the subject "every automatic (car) that came by was a monster with fantastic eyes out to get him personally. Each time a car passed he would huddle down against a parapet in terror. It was a real horror for him..like being in .a dream that never stops....with someone chasing you." In this case the CIA,was out to get him,Bummer.-

Read a very interesting story once about a promising french painter who met two americans in a cafe in Paris around 1913.

They began a conversation about communism which soon became quite heated, and the painter went to leave. One of the americans offered the painter a drink as an apology for the conversation getting out of hand.

The americans turned out to be CIA agents, who spiked the drink with 8 times enough LSD to cause an effect, then began asking him bizarre questions. The painter because quite unstandably freaked and left before the dose really hit him. When it did he became totally disallusioned on a trip that lasted about five months, and when he was found by his family after this time he was in an abandoned building, naked, filthy, and malnourished. No one knows how he managed to survive.

Anyways, he never fully recovered from the dose and was harmlessly insane for the rest of his life.

    Tragic.

sounds like BZ (quinuclidinyl benzilate)a super halucogen 10 times as powerful as lsd, trips last up to 800 hours as opposed to 80 on lsd.it inhibits the production of chemicals that facilitate the transfer of messages along the nerve endings disrupting perceptual patternsThe longterm effects include nausea, loss of balance, psychosis, and depression hallucinations are commonly recorded up to six weeks after ingestion.
The date seems not incompatible with army intelligence field tests.though i dont think it fits the timescale of mk ultra.
The military was interested in bz as it was effective as an areosol, making its battlefield applications practical.

In addition to Bill Clintons Cat's post

One of the uninformed test subjects had a psychotic episode after being spiked with lsd that lasted several months. It ended in his suicide: his family were never compensated.

funnily enough the scientists are blaming the ergot for the existance of witches and the great witch hunt in Salam, America. The hallucinations caused by the ergot was believed to be a instance of witchcraft. confused.gif ...

Children need encouragement. If a kid gets an answer right, tell him it was a lucky guess. That way he develops a good, lucky feeling.

When I was around 12-13 I used have a caffeine allergy, was great. Used drink a couple of cans of coke and go mental + no skanky come down, just a few hives and ecause I used run around like a bunny for hrs, i could sleep well, unfortuantely, I have taken a few drugs in my time - never matched the buzz from the aul coca-cola. Personally I think takin drugs is ok for some, it can change people for the good and provides a lot of insight into life if ur brain is still workin afterwards that is.
