    from a technophobe...

I want to type up a list of all my CD collection. Is there a simple way using Word that I can type them all in and then just click a button to list them in alphabetical order?

Using Word (I have Word 2000), just start a table with for example 2 columns, 1 for artist, other for album title.

When your list is complete, click Table > Sort, and you'll get a popup box, where you can sort by Column 1 (artist) or Column 2 (album) in either ascending or descending order.

    Hope that helps

www.openoffice.org - free download word EXCEL and powerpoint compatible.

if it was a text file you could sort it in Dos (start run cmd) by using
    Sort < raw-file.text > sorted.txt

Just use notepad. type Artist followed by Song name
E.g. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit.
    Do this for each song.

when Finished Open up the command line(click Start -> Run -> and type CMD

When console opens type the following cmd.
    C:\>SORT /+1 C:\TestFile.txt > Sorttestfile.txt

where TestFile.txt is your input file and sorttestfile is your sorted file.

if you want to do some formatting then just copy and paste sorted list into word:D

    Or

If you have Excel just Type them in, select all of them click Data->Sort. :D

Hope y'all don't mind me bumping up this thread but I do have a Word query.

For the past few days now I have been getting this really annoying message, & then Word closes itself.

I'm running WinXp with Word that came from the Microsoft Worksuite 2003.

    Here is the message.
    Dialog Box named
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    With the following message

    Runtime Error
    Program C:programfiles/microsoftoffice/office10/winword.exe
    abnormal program termination

After a few hours working with Word I get that message, but now the time is getting shorter. It popped up after just an hour yesterday, so any ideas ppl.

    Thanx in advance
