Hi, I'm doing this radio drama project in my sound engineering course and we're doing the original Flash Gordon from the 30's. Anyway we need the theme tune which seems to be that piecce of storm music that everyone plays for storm scenes in films etc. I THINK it might be Tchaikovsky's Tempest Overture Opus 18 but I'm not totally sure.

Anyway i was hoping that maybe someone here could confirm that for me...maybe i should've put this in the what's that piece section..... well it goes sort of like Daaaah dah dah dah dah dah dah dum dum dum Daaaaah dah dah dah dah dah dah etc etc the short dahs are running down chromatically.

    Thanks :)

I know this is on the big screen rather than radio but it might be a place to ask:

thanks for the links I'd checked out a lot of them at college today. I think that franz waxman only did the music for the tv series. i managed to hear that clip again with the music on it but it helpfully doesn't tell me who it's by. it's very frustrating as it's a very familiar piece and the name is just not coming to me.

listen to black sabbaths song black sabbath that reminds me of what your talking about

had a listen to the black sabbath track but that's not it. I'm fairly convinced that it's Tchiakovsky's Tempest. would anyone have an mp3 file of this I could to listen to and confirm my suspicion? it's op.18.

    thanks
