I don't really know if they are a fitting topic for this particular board... but what are your views on angel cards? Personally i was sceptical at first but when my friend was reading me, the "listening" card fell out of the deck... Now you could blame this on coincidence, but it happened 4 more times throughout the night! Including one time when i jokily said "come on ye bastards, show me a sign the ye are real".... I'm starting to believe a bit more now!

[EDIT]The "listening" card apparently means that the angels are definately listening and that their messages are very true etc.. btw [/EDIT]

I've got feck-all experience with them, but I'd be quite sceptical all the same.

What do they define 'Angels' as? Is it the catholic sense of the word, or just a good-natured spirit?

In my limited knowledge of these sorts of things (always looking to know more) I'd be more interested in the Tarot system or IChing (spl?) which are based on chance and conincedence / synchronicities - something I'm reading a lot about these days.

Angel cards are people friendly Tarot Cards, much like Ann Summers is a high street friendly Porn shop.

They work from the same basis anyhoo.

Angel cards are generally used for guidance from your spirit guides - a way of passing messages through. The oracle self help cards are positive in every way - I did a reading for a guy who I knew asked the question of whether they actually worked and asked for a sign - as he was dealing the "Signs" card popped out and rolled along the floor. This can happen alot (cards that jump out have a greater and important message, sometimes they jump just to prove to the person that their guides are there). Believe in them, they are a wonderful and helpful tool!

I think Angel cards are a source of comfort for anyone who believes in them.We all have spiritual guidance and some people use angel cards for direction ,for particular problems.

I don't believe in Angels. I mean they exist and all that, but I don't believe in them, that'd just encourage them :)

(Yes I do know that's from Pratchett, I horrified myself recently by saying the above and then realising that Pratchett had had one of his characters say it first).

My friend was sick there on wednesday and i went down to c her. she was in bed and i was sitting at her desk. i saw the angel cards in a box on her desk and procceded to ask
"what the fcuk is this scrap" needless to say i dont believe in this kinda stuff but
i pulled out the cards for a laugh to try and cheer her up
she picked three: nature body and study
Dunno what the significance of the nature one was but as she was sick for the past two days i thought the body thing was a bit weird. and for the past two weeks she has been freaking about an essay she has to do hence the study one.
i would be sceptcial but i thought that was very strange :D

The guy who was doing a spiritual day with us in school a year ago had a lot of interest in different cultures and spiritualities and such, and he had a deck with him. I liked the artwork so I got myself a deck. I've messed around with them on numerous occasions but I don't necessarily take the readings seriously, in my mind the meanings can be so ambiguous(sp?) that they are almost always accurate, if only because any meaning at all can be drawn from them. In a way like horoscopes, give a sheet with personality description to a Capricorn and the exact same one to an Aries and they'll both say its accurate. Still, they're sweet, and if a deity does exist then it is quite likely that kind, lesser spirits, referred to as angels in many cultures, do exist.

Odd for someone, not necessarily a cynic, more of an agnostic with an interest in spirituality, if mainly in a psychological and cultural sense, to own a deck of Angel cards, but schmeh.

    Only really modern Western culture.

I thought there were beings referred to as angels in many Buddhist cultures, maybe that's only a comparison though, not an actual term. My apologies if I'm incorrect :o

Your religion, background upbringing or whatever decides whether you call them angels, guides, demons, spirits or b**lsh*t. If we believe in something out there if its real it must be the same something, just with different badges. Your angel is my spirit person. Or if youre a cynic, my mental problem ;)

I have often said something simpilar to KatieK's point of view, though instead of the b**lsh*t, I throw in psychological.
Personally, I believe it is part spiritual, part psychological.

I meant the kind bit. Generally they're seen as being mean muthas who will occasionally do nice stuff, but may also do very nasty stuff (they have big flaming swords FFS).
