.....if I connect an freeware antenna to my PVR box to AIR TV on my PC? I am in Dublin. Can anybody answer this? I have posted a longer thread requesting lots of info in the satellite and Terrestrial sections, in case anyone may be able to help me further?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure what a freeware antenna or 'AIR TV' is howver you should be able to pick up RTE1, RTE2, TV3 & TG4 via their terrestrial broadcasts in Dublin.

A Freeware Antenna is like an indoor satellite dish only not quite as good signal etc appears. Air TV is something that a PVR box such as Hauppauge PVR USB2 or the Typhoon PVR TV box would be able to pick up when attached to a PC at one end and an antenna or satellite dish at the other. I was hoping to find out what I'd need to be able to view British and European Free to Air Channels? Would the antenna via the TV PVR box be enough or would I need a satellite dish with DVB card? And indeed would an Antenna and DVB card pick up more than the mere Antenna into the PVR? Basically If I can do it without having to put a satellite dish outside my home It'd be much better. Can anyone help me out?

An analogue TV Card (which the two you mention are) will allow you to watch Analogue TV channels and you'll need exactly the same kind of aerial for it as you have for any other analogue TV tuner. If you live in a good reception area, an indoor aerial will do, if you live in a poor reception area then an outdoor one will provide you with better reception. Satellite transmissions require a Sat PC Card and a dish to receive them. With A DTT card in your PC you will not pick up any DTT channels from Europe, it's hard enough to pick up the UK DTT transmissions in Dublin. You will pick up free to view channels from satellite with a sat card and dish, as you would with a normal satellite receiver.
