    Hi all,

I have lost a few channels such as Chart Show TV, The Amp, Scuzz, Flaunt, The Vault, and some others. When i select these channels I get the message stated above. Sometimes when there is heavy rain these channels come back.

Has anyone any idea of what is going on here or what I can do?

    thanks,
    Marc

A lot of dishs went out of alignment over the weekend due to high winds you need to get the ladder out.

Proceed to the signal test by pressing Services, 4 & then 6. What is the strenght at?

It's not really a new issue. Has been this way for a couple of months. I'm only getting my finger out now :D

The signal strength from what I can remember is in the high 70's.

It still sounds like alignment problems to me.

To be honest a situation like your's could be a tricky one because it could be anything from the box to the cable and finally the dish. I had a similar problem like your's only last week in edenderry and it turned out to be a faulty piece of cable in the building. What make of digibox is it? If it's a pace these are not uncommon to produce a problem like your's either.

Looks like you lost a couple of transponders, 11390V (Flaunt, Scuzz, The Amp, Best Direct, Best Direct plus, The Dating Channel, Wine Network) and 11426V (Chart Show TV, The Vault, Pop, Tiny Pop, OBE TV).

If you just lost these transponders, you should be able to get Performance. If you don't have this channel either, you might have lost the entire beam (3 more transponders).

So, go see if you got Performance or not. If that one is out, then you'll see there's about 30 more channels you don't have. Most of it it's crap though :)

    Cheers,
    JP

It's a V2 Sky + box. Not sure which make though. This did happen before and Sky sent out an engineer. Don't ask me what he did but he got them back. He said something about changing the lnb. Unfortunately I am not under warranty anymore and not sure I want to pay for one.

Not sure about Performance Joypad. Will check tonite.

If you have easy access to your dish try changeing around the connections to the LNB. There should be 2 spare connections on the LNB. A new LNB is around €90 a bit steep but try that first. Also make sure all conections are tight at the back of the digi box.

Thanks for the replies guys. Colm I don't really have access to the dish but I'll try the connections at the back of the box tonight. Heres hoping it's that easy...

My brother lost all his channels after the storm. thought the dish was out
of alignment but signal strenth was 60-80%. Did a backup and hey presto
    all channels.

How do you do a Backup DjPaul?

Unplug you digibox from the mains. now, hold down the backup button
on your digibox and plug back in (still holding down backup button) after
a couple of seconds the digibox will light up and a onscreen message will
appear (let go of the backup button) Do what the message says. the box will reset itself. leave for
about 2 minutes and power up.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

    Paul. :)

Would this delete all recorded programs and series links though?

Press the "keep" button on what you have recorded. not sure about the
series links though. Tony from satelite.ie would know more.

Well, tried the connections at the back of the box last night. All seemed fine but when I put them back in there was a slight improvement.

A couple of the no satellite signal channels were viewable but not all. Didn't do the software backup as I had recorded programs I didn't want to lose and wasn't sure if they would be deleted.

    Better than before I suppose.

i am also getting this no signal message but only on channel 5 with freeview card downstairs and on living tv on sky plus irish card downstairs. sometimes if i leave it on it comes on after a minute or so more likely with living tv ch5 hit and miss with approach, can make channel hoping less attractive

upstairs digibox no problems with channel 5 or living tv

very puzzling connections on back of box is fine, if dish alignment was problem i wouldnt get them trouble free upstairs, loose lnb perhaps on the two connections for sky plus?

Happened to us about two years ago. Fortunately we were still within the one year warranty. Hade the installer out to have a look and he replaced the LNB. Never had a problem since.

    http://www1.sky.com/customer_support/pdfs/sky+-no_satellite_signal.pdf

Just found this on the Sky website. I'll try it tonight but has anyone tried this or think this will sort the problem?

    Marc.
