Hey, ive seen some posts about this but none that were complete.

So you get cheap flights to Charleroi, on the sale up to monday midnight for a euro, so 30euro all inclusive... then you have two options

    A) 10Euro 45minutes ryanair bus to the brussels center ...

    or

    B) get the.. 1.10Euro 10minutes TEC bus route 68 from the airport to the Charleroi Sud train station

I've got that all sorted then i get lost

You can get the Thalys fast train (2 n half hours) to and from amsterdamn for around 40euro return... does anyone know if thats from opton a or b?

or you can get the IC Benelux train which runs hourly but again duno do you get it from a or b? and dont know the price. Can anyone who has actually done it give a definitive guide to getting out of that tiny little airport (been before) to amsterdam? including prices and possibly directions or numbers of busses etc haha

    Thanks

You can check timetables and fares on the Belgian Railways Website.

that site might as well be in chinese and written upsidedown.. it only really gives prices for Thalys , and then if you go on one section of the site it has no option for youth and then on another it does and there the same train. then one says something about mezzo and mezzo abs and smiley and oh god i think it will be arrive on the day and just ask the lovely train people.

but i will remember directions etc and write the definitive guide once i get back if it has not already been written here. All input is welcomed

Don't be a lazy freakin paddy  Its a great site (check out the irish equivalent if you want a comparison) - and it gives you the information you need. You wanted train times from charleroi or brussels to amsterdam - and thats what it gives you.
Their regular service is great - nice clean trains (they're usually double deckers) that will deliver you to amsterdam at a decent speed.

Ref. Buses: The following taken from ryanair.com....
Buses to and from the centre of Brussels (Gare du Midi) have a journey time of about an hour and are scheduled to compliment flight times. Buses leave Brussels centre at the corner of Rue de France / de l'Instruction 2h30 before each flight departures at Brussels Charleroi airport. Tickets can be purchased on board at a cost of 10.50 euro each way.
and if i get the 68bus to sud can i still get them trains or only in brussels center.
Eh, the timetable on the belgian railways site perhaps?
Decide which train it is you want to catch - whether it is in Brussels Midi or Charleroi = and plan from there..
    midi = centre.
i was in O'Reillys pub there in brussels for about 2days but didnt go anywhere else
Your a sad, sad man - you should stay at home.
And sorry all paddys are lazy and drunks thats why everyone loves us.
    Don't kid yourself.

the ryan air bus brings you tho the station you need to be at, get off the bus and go through the white door across the road to the left, the far left! walk 600m past one or two shops(this is inside the station), turn right(only way you can go bar out) and your there

    enjoy

did the same trip in november last year.
from the air port get a local bus cost €1.90 to the train sation then go to international (pretty sure) desk and book a ticket on to amsterdam this is €30 each way . i booked a single but didnt check to see if it would be cheeper on a rtn.then change at brussles north (we got off at brussles centre and ended up waiting for and hour to be told we had to go to brussles north-which we could have done staight from the 1st train!) also check which train you need to go on and dont do what my boyfriend did and not ask cause we wer waiting for the express and that wasnt what we paid for and couldnt get on it- more wasted time). and finnaly 3hrs later in amsterdam..yay!
    hope it helps

30 each way is expensive, when i did it in july, it was 39.50 return for a student fare, to which no id was needed i might add, she asked me if i was a student, and i says yeah!

ps, pictures would be a great idea, midi station is a big enough one(not as big as cologne though!, and easy enough to get lost in too!
