I know one priest who never had a car and relies on lifts.

must dig up that link about observed behaviour of SUV drivers in car parks interesting reading

Seeing as how they are BIG and HEAVY and are supposed to be able to carry a lot of weight - why not insist they are hydrid's - Diesel and Lithium !

Be interesting to see how much each SUV would cost if the owners had to pay for thier part of Koyoto.

what's the difference between an SUV that never gets taken off road and a hedgehog ?

EU requirements on driver licensing limit the scope of a licence for cars and light vans to the driving of vehicles – other than motorcycles, mopeds, work vehicles or land tractors – with a design gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3,500 kg and having passenger accommodation for not more than eight persons.
Does anyone have a list of GVWR's so we can see how many of the 4X4's and SUV's need a C1 license or better ?

I don't think you'll find any cars/jeeps sold in the european market which have a d.g.v.w over 3500 kg - it would be pretty stupid of manufacturers to produce a car that required a C1 licence to drive :)

The Toyota Landcruiser 100 (that's the massive landcrusier, not the normal one) and the new Landrover Discovery have a d.g.v.w of around 3200 kg. They would be the two heaviest 4x4s on the market. A Rolls Royce Phantom or Maybach would also have similar d.g.v.w.

Imported American 4x4s, SUVs and vans would undoubtedly exceed the 3500 kg limit but there are very few of these on the road and it'd be only enthusiasts that own them
