    just had a quick look in notepad 5.0 on win2kpro here but there isnt a status bar at all. exactly what do u mean? like a bar at the bottom? i've never noticed anything in notepad before, i generally use textedit or editplus in windows.

    apparently its a reg tweak :

    ;Enabling Status Bar in Notepad without affecting word wrap
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Notepad]
    "StatusBar"=dword:00000001

    zod ... you the man !!

    That works alright but i restarted and didn't keep the change.
    So i go in and update registry and then it is there .... then i view source on a webpage and it aint there so i open that file from notepad and save it, close and reopen and its fine. Cheers ... it'll do for now anyway.
