where are my bookmarks in firefox gone?

    where is the favourites folder for you bookmarks in fire fox?
    it doesn't seem to just hold a load of files in the usual internet explorer (which i've just imported into firefox), but the links I'd gather over the last month of firefox use have disappeared?

    I went to the firefox site and it talk about profiles, but i don't think I actually created one and by homepage I'd set it to has referred back to the default firefox/google page

    yeh the bugger deleted all of mine the other day..god knows why..last time i dont save em :mad:

    You always have at least one profile. If there are no profiles then it will create a new one called defulet (i think).

    If you go to your proile folder (the mozilla site should tell you where. On unix it's in ~/.mozilla/firefox/<blah>.<profilename>), there should be a file called bookmarks.html. That's where the bookmarks are kept.

    Try C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles ...

    If not there, try the "All Users" folder instead of the Your Name folder.

    nahh think there gone... i had a load of firefox browser windows on when the power went last night?

    it got of tham now there no sign of the bookmarks just a default one with nothing I added...

    I just backed mine up there, but the same thing happened to with Mozilla. Hopefully it doesnt happen with FireFox!! I never found out why it did it

    Happened to me before also.It seems that if your machine resets or crashes whilst having Firefox open the bookmarks get deleted.

    interesting
    as my bloody comp crashed turning off the other night ..so i just held the power button down till it went..

    and then poof! no bookmarks..saved em now tho :rolleyes:
