I stayed in the Hotel St George (which is just off the main square). Cheap and clean. Was grand.

Went to Prague recently. From what I saw on the net, most hotels are very expensive. Would recommend an apartment - we got one from www.marys.cz Was grand, good location, huge size and all for half the price of a hotel room! PM me if you want more details.

I stayed in the Hotel Jalta...it was on the main street (forget the name) beside the national gallery pretty much...I can honestly say that i dont know the cost but it was the best hotel i have ever stayed in and i have stayed in 5 star hotels all over Europe

Amazing place to go but i was with my family so it was a different experience to going for a piss up/tourist backpacking holiday or whatever

We stayed in the Pyramida a couple of years ago, nice place up past the castle but the tram stops right outside. Booked it though http://www.czechbyclick.com/ and it was fairly cheap iirc.

Stayed at the Cloister Inn last time I was over, decent hotel with a cracking restaurant right across the road that did the world's greatest Sole.

Within easy walking distance of all the main sights but just far enough out to be away from the tourist traps. Plenty of tram stops nearby IIRC.

I was over there over xmas, I stayed in the 4* Corinthia Panorma Hotel which worked out about €50 pp per night through ebookers. Some of the people we met over there had 3* hotels for about €25 per night. There are loads on the web - just keep googling.

Heading to Prague next month and we're staying in the Central Hotel, which is located in the city centre I believe. Booked it through TotalStay.com and it works out at €312 for a double room for 4 nights B&B for the two of us. Don't know anyone who's stayed in it but it looks fine and it's cheap enough:)
