    Meaning:

    n.

A person who derives sexual gratification from observing the naked bodies or sexual acts of others, especially from a secret vantage point.

Reality shows are maybe one of the best proofs to show what society has become. Tv started as an idea to improve education and expand culture but it soon this values were replaced by Entertainment. People everyday get back home from their jobs tired, the last thing they want to do is think, so they turn on the tube to avoid realizing that their lives will never change or improve.

Nowadays there's to much information, people don't get impressed easily, each day they need more gore, more sex, more incoherent explotions to be able to block their minds. When I was 10 years old I remember that it was quite difficult to catch a glimpse of some t1ts on TV, but my 9 year old sister has seen A LOT of t1ts. People got tired of the fake explosions and sex, they even got tired of the lesbians kicking the **** out of each other on Jerry Springer. Something had to be done, if humankind was getting more perverse everyday then it was the companies task to satisfy their desires. Voila! Reality TV.

Each day people run from their offices to their sofas to actually see other human beings live their lives. It sounds stupid, but it's the truth; people love to watch them quarrel, fcuk and laugh. They prefer to watch these shows rather than take care of their own lives. The most terrifying aspect is that society is used to get their views of life from the TV stars, so naturally they also worship the people participating on Big Brother, etc. The problem is that usually the participants are not the best role models.

Society has entered a very frightening state, The Truman Show predicted what was going to happen with TV. Money is replacing all ethic and moral values, Companies don't care what they produce as long as it sells.

If there are shows dedicated to film human beings all day long, what will come next?.

I think another important point is target-audience.
These reality-show programs are clearly (imho) aimed at the younger generation (12-30), and i think the sheer number of these programs appearing is distressing. I can only speak about my own country (netherlands) and i think within 2 years we have seen 5-6 reality-shows appear on our tv-sets. I admit, i have been very tempted to watch an episode of these programs but am always disgusted at how totally lacking they are of any real substance. Most of them involve some stupid challenge (stay in the same house for 2 months..ohh wow) and involve a huge cash-award....so what are we teaching the children that watch this crap?

PS u wann see some real informative tv, look at Discovery

Actually, I think EdTV is a much better example, because TTS was never a "reality TV show in that ist was mostly scripted (albeit unknown to Truman). EdTV, on the other hand, was the true watching of evryday life, with the media eventually sticking their fingers into the plot to spice it up a bit.

Apparently, (or so I was told) there was a German or Swiss progrma which basically reported on the daily lives of a real family which predated either movie. Its only major difference was that you couldnt watch 24x7, which the internet allows with BigBro and its ilk.

The real world on MTV pre-dated both films by about 8 years.

These shows were new and novel when they appeared but I think that the novelty is wearing off very quickly indeed. ITV quickly cut Survivor from it's daily slot when it became clear that it wasn't going to hit anything like it's target audience.

I would claim to have a strongly voyeuristic streak in me but even I can't be bothered with any of the "reality" shows at the moment. The only one I see at all is Big Brother and then only because my girlfriend want to watch it. There's no way I'd sit down to it on my own, I find it mind-numbingly boring.

    Next please.
