Irish Open

    Hi,

Another Friday afternoon of watching the clock and praying for 5:30pm to arrive has resulted in further aimless internet browsing which ultimatley led me to looking at the European Poker Tour schedule for 2005. I see that from 24 Mar - 27 Mar 2005 the Irish Open (European Ranking Tournament) is on in the Merrion Club in Dublin. I've always wanted to play in a big tournament against household names, not because I think I'd beat them but just for the experience of doing it. Notwithstanding my desire to take on 'Aces' Trumper and the lads I would be very reluctant to cough up a hefty stack of my hard earned 'dead money' to the overall prize pool and thereby end up indirectly funding Ross and Barney Boatman's next 'recreational holiday' to Bangkok. I know that same tournament took place last year, can anybody remember if there were many sattelites for it running at the time and if so how much they costed?

As far as I can recall the Merrion had sattelites every day the week leading up to the event. If the Irish Open is now part of the EPT then their will deffinately be online qualifiers on Poker Stars or Party Poker. Can't remember which one does the EPT but I think it's one of those two.

Depends on the interest for the ept the merrion promised sattelites but then decided their regular punters shouldnt be allowed play

Its PokerStars. Loads of cash and freeroll(playing points) sats. Played in a few myself.

There were loads of staellites last year - Rob McGuirk, one of the merrion regulars won his ticket in a 100 Euro satellite and ended up placing 2nd in the main event. This year I think it will be similar to what happended during the winter festival - there was so much interest in the event due to the EPT that most of the places were snapped up well before hand leaving none left for satellites in the club.

your best bet would be to get a ticket on a pokerstars satellite - I know dropsy won one there for the winter festival so if he can do it, anybody can ;-)

Pokerstars had 3 euro satellites into 300 euro satellites.
For the 300 euro satellites they were giving away 4 tickets +cash.
