    Hi All,

There has been progress in MDDclone - Mercenary & Damocles for windows based on Novagen's 1986 classic. It's up to version 1.61 now (use 1.5 version to save games). Give it a try and get it here

The website has a lot of help with the maps and solutions. I actually missed this classic when it came out on the c64 and the Amiga. Give it a go!

Hint... all you need are the arrow keys, R=run, B= to board (ships), L= to exit ( ships), E=Enter (elevator - you need this at location 09-06) :)

Yah, 1.5 seems to be the one to play if you want to save. 1.6 shows off Damocles which I tried on the Amiga Emulator instead. Actually the MDDclone site above has good links to maps for the game. To be honest I would not have time to map out the complexes. If only I had time... but still it great to use them. Actually, before I should repeat, to enter the complex at the first given location 09-06, press E when out of the craft and are walking on the platform to go down... :)

I remember seeing Mercenary for the first time on my cousins Atari ST. Approaching the green planet in all it's 16bit glory was a jaw dropping experience all those years ago. Although I still have much more confidence for their 8bit conterparts (ie. C64).

I tried the tape C64 version again and the one thing that struck me was the sluggish frame rate. Expected but still wireframe is faster than Freescape's solid block efforts. Although they were good too (speaking of Darkside). Mercenary's world is very detailed for the memory of the machine of the time. Amazing!
