The scenes that have been unfolding in the north of England have been progressivly more disturbing and serious. Initially what was supposed to race riots or at least have their roots in racial issues were not calmed by community leaders blaming government, police, lack of investment and racism as the causes, essentially excusing the actions of thugs by not pointing the finger at them.

But the recent upsurge has scared those who tried to capitolise on or excuse the previous unrest. There seemed genuine fear on the faces and in the voices of elderly Pakistani and Indian people, who wholly condemned the most recent violance. Even the political representitives of ethnic minorities backed the use of harsher measures against rioters.

Why? Because (I think) in a large region where white unemployment, discontent and general under-privalage is rife a race war is looking like a real possibility, especially in places like Leeds. Racism is prevalent in many areas across the North of England and if the present trouble should spread the English police would be stretched to breaking point. The results would be disasterous. It was interesting to see the the Anti-Nazi league was roundly blamed for causing the riots, not the BNP. Their "rally" was showed on C4 and it looked like trouble anyway. No central speaker, or captive audiance, but mega phone chanting and fists being stabbed in the air to whip up excitment and support from passers by.

For Englands sake and that of race relations I hope that racists on all sides are identified and arrested, but I think the damage has already been done. Any minority attempting to aportion blame for violance to lack of investment in their areas is bound to incur the wrath of a white under class whose own existance and circumstances is no picnic.

now im not from there so i cant comment on whos fault it is,
but i keep seeing a repeat of media style of what ever happens its donw to the white,

Now im positive that theres afew white in theres starting trouble, it takes two to tango, and if some one soits on you and calls you names that dosent give you the right to burn down homes of people who have nothing to do with you and destroy propertie.

im just saying that the media making these people out to be hero rebelling against the repressive white majority, while the majority of white simple just want to get on with their daily lifes.
after recent events i see the national fronts rank growing as more people join them, not out of hatred but out of fear

I read recently that one of the factors was because the pakistani community was very angry that the level of support for the national front party in the local elections was running at 10%.
This gave the pakistani 'rioters' a reason for feeling they had to take to the streets according to 1 local leader. (I.E. 1 in ten of whites are bigoted in this area)

The pakistani leader also felt that all the other partys should ally together to face the scourge of duly elected national front candidates!

Just a couple of points: 1) Over the last few weeks, the police have laid the blame for the instigation of the rioting at the door of the BNP.

2) I'm not particularly a fan of the anti-Nazi League, but the BNP called a march knowing that it would be banned(and it was) but also more importantly knowing that a counter-demonstration would be called by the ANL, then when trouble flared at/around this, they can say "oh look it's white liberals and asians who are the causes and doers of all this chaos and violence, not us good proud anglo-saxon working class whites".

Of course mobs are not known for their intelligence or reason, so the BNP's plan went off well....

I think you hit the nail on the head with point 2 Bugler. The AFL are just as autocratic as the BNF and both use mod to their own ends.

Live under a totalarian facist regime or a totalarian PC regime, both using the tool of violence. Neither speak for the majority of reasonable minded people through both would have us believe they do.

The point of view of a Bradford local!!

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">There's a city in Northern England called Bradford and it is a **** hole. It has been a **** hole for a long time. Bradford is a perfect example of what racial harmony isn't. It is a perfect example of what happens when you let limp-wristed 'PC ****ers' run things. A high proportion of the city's population are Asian. Whilst whites and Asians get along just fine as individuals, the policies implemented by the police and local authorities have just secured Bradford a place in the history books as the scene of the worst race-hate riots the UK has ever seen. Any racial harmony in Bradford has been achieved in spite of the efforts of these losers NOT because of them!

When South Africa had the apartheid system the world quite rightly condemned that government for having one set of rules for blacks and another for whites.

But Bradford too had one set of rules for the Asian community and another for the white community. This policy was enforced in the interests of racial harmony. Racial harmony my **** ! There was a mini riot in Bradford in 1995. The police officers who dealt with the incident were ORDERED to hand in their note books for fear that arresting the rioters would spark even worse race-hate violence. If those rioters had been white football hooligans every single one of them would have been brought to justice. But because they were Asian youths who 'appeared' to have a cause, the police adopted a softly, softly approach.

This set an important precedent in the city. White criminals got arrested. Asian criminals didn't - such was the paranoia. This policy gave right wing groups like the National Front all the ammunition they needed to justify their cause. This same policy rendered Asian criminals 'untouchable' by the law.

I am personally dismayed by the level of stupidity displayed by both sides in this conflict. If you implement ANY policy based upon the colour of someone's skin you're an idiot. If you decide to wreck the city in which you live because you 'think' you have a cause - you're an idiot!

Who the **** is going to invest in Bradford as a city after this? If you're an Asian youth who feels discriminated against (and they often are) do you think your actions will help you get a job? In the grand scheme of things, nobody outside your city will give a **** - until you ask them for a job !

Many of my friends are Asian and they told me the riots in Bradford were planned well in advance - the hotels in the city were fully booked (with ****ing journalists) on the Friday before the riot. I also know people in the police force who had to endure a 12 hour shift without food or water and faced crossbow bolts, flying axes and petrol bombs with only a plastic shield and a truncheon as a defense.

The bottom line is, a thug is a ****ing thug no matter what colour you are. The rest of the country will judge your city by your actions and at the moment it looks for all the world like Bradford is a ****ing **** hole!

To be honest the whole race relations industry is riddled with charlatans and freeloaders,i remember cringing with embarassment whenever one of the "community leaders" came to give a talk at the school.
Bearing in mind there were only four non whites in the entire school.
Did their talks ever stop one bullying incident? Did they fek they just gave the boneheads one more reason to pick on us.not that they needed one of course.
Personally i feel totally aliemnated from all mainstream politics at the moment.The tories ran the most xenophobic anti immigrant campaign in my living experience,and saw for their efforts a rise in the BNP vote,to quote Nick Griffin Head of the BNP "William Hague is the BNPs Best Regruitment officer"
Labour Totally abandoned its principles of defending the weakest sections of society,whilst the right wing of the tory party harped on about Diluting anglo saxon purity all cook could muster was some woolly nonsense about how brits loved a curry.
Whilst every one points a finger accusing everyone else for the problems in oldham,burnley and bradford nothing will change.
