Pentium 4 fans & cooling

I recently bought a new system with a Pentium 4 3ghz (socket 775)processor. I'm using the stock fan that came with it.
Unfortunately it sounds like a over-excited hoover when doing anything intensive.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a relatively quiet fan, and where to get it? I'm not over-clocking, so as long as it does the job it doesn't have to be completely silent.

    Thanks

Get a Zalman CNPS7000A-CU or the newer model and you will be very happy.

Its very very quite and cools P4 chips like a dip in the North Sea lol. Check the Zalman site to make sure your mobo can take the heatsink tho.

    Or get one of these!

Oh if I had foolish amounts of money I'd get one just to see what they look like in real life...

Those Zalman CNPS7000A-CU look good. Overclocker.co.uk has them for €58 including post and packaging.
Is there anywhere cheaper to get them thats reliable? Komplett is out of stock, and thats the only site if used before.

    Thanks

    CNPS7000A-CU doesn't fit socket 775. You need a Zalman CNPS7700

Cheaper I dunno. Peats also do them, as does IT Direct occasionally. Not always much dearer than the web either. They might not have the CNPS7700 which is very new. You also need to check if it fits your case and motherboard. These are big and don't fit every board and case combination.

I'd love one aswell. Couldn't justify the price though.

Not when they only perform the same as a high end heatsink.

Which silent and fanless heatsink do you mean?

Arctic Cooling do a good range of cheap heatsinks, they have the Freezer 7 out at the moment, which despite it's name is actualy pretty decent and damn quiet. A few places in town do it for about €35.

I think he meant high-end HSF. I believe the XP-120 and asus star ice can outdo the reserator by a few degrees celsius
