Havent been to Gumbet but been to Turkey (kusadasi) before and its excellent!!

Id kusadasi is a lot like gumbet - the turks love the Irish over there. Beer and food is cheap, most restaurants will send a free taxi out to your hotel to bring you to their restaurant, will prob give you free dessert as well.

Not sure what the weather would be like over there now though.

Make sure you go to see Ephesus while you're over there - its amazing - you'll need over half a day there at least.

Enjoy - let us know how you get on.

Sorry - one more thing - make sure to get your turkish bath on your FIRST day, if you get it later on in the holiday it will take most of your tan away =)

Think they only cost about €10 - €15 - well worth it!

Stayed in Gumbet in September 2000, so it's been a while, but had a great time there. Loads of watersports and boat trips during the day, plenty restaurants and bars at night.

Get the Dolmus bus to Bodrum for shopping (dodgy local mini-van service, even shared seats with a few sheep!). Great for leather goods.

Depending on what tour company you are with, there will be the usual trips - good waterpark, also trips to Ephessus etc (although didn't make it to Ephessus as was an 8-hour bus trip in searing 40 degree heat, but I've heard its excellent)

Haggling is great over there, but the usual hawkers stalk you trying to sell stuff, especially to girls, which can be intimidating but you get used to it.
Would definately go back again for a week.

I didnt realise it was this far from gumbet - I stayed in Kusadasi and it was onlt half an hour on the bus. Its well worth going to see - you wont be disappointed if you like that sort of thing.
