    know nothing much about hardware, as I shall probably demonstrate now.
    I iinstalled 512MB module of dimm ram into my pc, which already had 256mb module installed. i noticed then in the faq it suggested putting the larger module into the first socket for the ram and the next largest into the second etc. The task manager tells me I have 777712K of ram which is good, but also that I have 427300 available and 288480 for the system cache. Where's the other 45mb of ram gone then? Is this normal, or might it be because I have the larger module in the second slot instead of the first?

    512 + 256 = 768MB

    777712K DIV 1024k = 759.48MB

    427300 + 288480 = 715780 DIV 1024k = 699MB;

    About 60MB sounds like onboard Graphicd

    the other bit of ram is being used by the graphics card? Makes sense. PC has "Integrated Intel extreme graphics; up to 48mb dynamically shared video memory". Sound card maybe for the little bit extra? -It is part of the motherboard too. Thanks
