    Hi,
Does anyone know whether or not NTL will begin to operate in areas currently held by Chorus TV at the moment.

I live only 4 Km from Lucan. But we have Chorus.
Are the areas for cable providers set out and fixed or can NTL move in if they want. Anyone know if they plan to?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    I don't know.

NTL are investing €100m in it's network in Ireland at the moment to upgrade it for digital tv and cable modem services. Chorus are apparently also starting to upgrade their cable networks so they can offer digital/cable modem services in their areas.

There's nothing legally stopping either one (or somone else entirely) from operating in the others patch, but you'll find that they will both be happier to invest in new areas without any competition for the forseeable future, because of the larger returns. The exclusive franchise areas have been gone for more than a year now.
