mp3 tag studio can tag id tags by their filename i use it all the time, and find it better than the musicbrainz program somebody will suggest

mp3tag - think the website is somthing obscure like mp3tag.de - easy and quick, does the obvious copy filename-tag or tag-filename that you'll be using most often and supports freedb too. And it's free, natch.

Tis a bit of a pain still..

I currently have my MP3s arranged by artist with Albums in sub-folders under the artist like below:

    c:\
    ______\Music
    _____________\Artist
    _____________________\Album
    _______________________________track number - trackname.mp3

Not all folders are arranged like this but quite alot are.. This is pissing me off no end..

man how many mp3's you got,

i had to do it with 4000 when i got my ipod (now gotten rid of and got iriver) and it took me ages. but i decided to do an artist a day, then i stuck the artist i done on the ipod and listened to them until i done another artist.

it was great because i rekindled my love for some of my songs

Psychicmp3 (FREEWARE) will load your folder as a cd, query the cddb, find the album and retag/rename all the mp3's for you.

Will only do 1 album at a time though.

This is useful but it's very buggy. It crashed 5 times in half an hour when I used it. :(

    The Godfather -> http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/

Incredibly powerful tagging software, well worth figuring out if you have a large music collection.

Tag&Rename will tag folders for you from FreeDB, saving the need to type everything.

Tag&Rename or MP3TagStudio (might be more than 1 word) both allow retagging based on directory names and suchlike, and might be of more use.

Windows media player 9 has an advanced tag editor built in. You can use it to change details in the tags of batches of MP3s. I don't know if it's available in MP10 but it works fine for me.
