this is where I need help. Is that "decent yet cheap" or is it "brutal and cheap"

Basic but cheap would be most accurate.

It is a decent brand and has ok specs so I am sure it would take good pictures without any problem.

The big minus is that it has no zoom lens.

Still it seems like a good price, If you are just looking for a basic digital it is fine, cameras of that spec were selling for a hell of a lot more than that not so long ago.

Only thing is that 16MB memory is not that much so you should budget for a 128MB memory card as well.

I have an older model kodak DX4430 and it is very good. The camera is simple to use, has a sport mode which stops blurring very well (a problem I find with most digi cams). The 128 card is only 14.75 on komplett, I would go at least 256 thought, (I have 1GB myself, great for videos). The camera also takes standard AA's so you can carry spares no problem, Komplett also sell chargers and batteries. May aswell buy the lot from them because they will only cahrge the standard €10 postage.

I know you probably want a really cheap camera, but i got a canon powershot a400 recently for 180 euro in 3g, its brillant camera, the quality is great and it is loaded with features, the great thing about it is that you can put it in dumbass mode and it will do all the hard work for you, but you can still change the exposure and iso settings. I would really recommend spending the extra money on this one, you might find you self wanting a better camera not long after you buy the cheapo jobbie. My brother also has a canon and the quality is excellent from that also, maybe you could get an older canon powershot for cheaper

Nikon 3700 point and shoot was €209 in Camera Exchange. South Great Georges Street. Takes great pictures and its very compact. Has a great 640x480 mode with sound. 3.2mp. Fine for snaps. The video eats memory and battery though. Sound can go out of sync but you can adjust that later.

If you want a cheap and cheerful camera that will do the job nicely then
    OLYMPUS Camedia C-310 Zoom - 137e

but considering that it is your wedding and you will have these pictures for life then
    KONICA MINOLTA Dimage Z2 - 299e

My recommendations are to stick with well known brands (Nikon or sony if you can afford it) - almost everything else is rubbish. Dont be fooled by a huge megapixel size either (mustek), look instead for better lenz quality! Anything over 3.5mp with a good lenz will be much better than a 7mp with a crap one.

p.s. Wouldnt go for that 89 euro one on komplett - crap lenz and terrible quality but the nikkon 3700 for ~200 is a little cracker of a camera. Friend of mine has it and its amazing quality. Also that price is excellent was 350 or so when she bought it about a year ago.
