you're getting an onboard 7.1 system. I'd ditch the extra sound card if I were you :)

    Cool, will do that.
Cheers for taking a look man

Seagates: I wouldn't recommend this for one reason. Two year warrenty. I'd prefer to spend a few euro (probably about 2-3 per drive) and get a different manufacturer (i.e Western Digital) that offers a three year warrenty.

Alternatively, go S-ATA. I think some of those drives come with 5 year warrenties.

Seagate's, hmmm. I would have a preference for Western Digital. I have 4 Western Digitals in the last four year and 0 problems. People have Seagates and they are doing just as good but I hear about more problems with hitachi's, seagates and maxtors. Thats all.

I like the Lanboy case btw

    The TFT is good also

Western digital Caviar (only the best will do) :)

    go for the coolermaster case

they have very good build quality as does the antec but the coolermaster is cheaper

Love that Collermaster case - sweet
Ya wheres the graphics card ??????
Nice choice with the CPU - the 90nm out performs the 130nm quite a bit.
Overclockers are a bit heavy on the delivery charges i think(not sure) did ya check Jes

Looks good. The only thing is if you want to save some money you could do this, get cheaper RAM (such as the TwinMos 1024MB dual-channel pack on komplett) without the heatsink and extra-low latency as there is no noticable difference to us humans (about 2% as stated in another topic) between low latency and slightly higher latency RAM and you'd be saving about €80, and if you couldn't bare to lose out on low latency if you read the reviews of the TwinMos you'd see that it can be overclocked to very low latency! Also, the AMD 3200+ on komplett is the Winchester 90nm version s939, is a fair bit cheaper than the 3500+ and is very overclockable.

Everything else looks great, and as someone said before I'd ditch the sound card, go with a Western Digital Hardrive and where's the graphics card?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 231 ✭✭Lydesia

Right i will defo go with the coolermaster

I actually got that case delivered on Tuesday (well the black version). Fantastic imo. Lovely looking, feels well built. Can't wait to populate it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 231 ✭✭Lydesia

Sounds sweet! Does it have the window (clear) panel included?
Or do you have to buy it extra?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

No, Komplett don't sell them with the windows and you cannot buy the window seperately as far as I know. You could cut your own though with basic tools and skills.

Did this - it is a nightmare - trust me - get the case with appropriate holes imho! Pay more if necessary - it's generally worth it!

I really want one with a side panal window

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I think side panels are over rated personally but whatever floats your boat.

The Caviler 3 is absolutely gorgeous though imo. Tool free installation too (mostly)

Seagates: I wouldn't recommend this for one reason. Two year warrenty.

There's nothing worse than bad info.

EVERY SEAGATE COME WITH A 5 YEAR WARRANTY!!!

    http://info.seagate.com/mk/get/AMER_WARRANTY_0704_JUMP

    http://www.barracudadrives.com/warranty/5-year_press-release.pdf

they are also slient and reliable. I own a half dozen.

woAh! Ok cheers for that, They seem very well priced drives.
    thanks for the info

I have 3 and I would definately recommend them. The key reason is that they are dead quiet. I have upgraded mu PSU and CPU fan to keep the PC as silent as possible and the Seagate are definately the quietest HD. (Fluid bearings)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,817 ✭✭✭✭po0k

Silence and Performance are inversely proportional.
Seagates might be quiet, but they aren't the fastest.

There are easy methods to reduce the noise of WDs and Maxtors.

Also, I'm not sure, but isn't the ATI X800PE available only in PCIe?
Your board is an nForce3 and doesn't have PCIe
I would seriously recommend you get cheaper ram and an nForce4 motherboard.

    cornflake

tell me the tools you used

    how long it took

    difficulties you encountered

and maybe i will understand why i have a jagged hole in my top panel still awaiting a proper finish

i'm too scared to get involved in all this again, but if results like yours are possible with a little diligence, i might try again....

Like any good case mods i've done, i copied it off www.metku.net

    Making a Window
    How i did it.
Made the design on a 1:1 scale on paper. (its two fibonnaci spirals terminating in a circle.
Stuck the design to the case and scored it with a stanley.
Cut out scored design with a jig saw and a drill.
Lots of filling. I found some stone drill bits in atlantic home care, but the stell eats through them, but they for filling for a bit.
    Got some perspex in B&Q, about €25 for a 2' * 4' sheet i believe.
Some more filling on the perspex.
Opened up some 3 wire electric flex.
    Took out the individual wires.
Open those up with a stanley and removed the copper.
Fixed said opened wire to the steel by puuting the steel left by the void of the absent copper. (this bit takes a while, opening it up with a flat head screw driver as you work along is a bit of a trick)
Stick the opened wire cover on with a few bits of super glue on the reverse(you don't need much)
Cut a circular whole in the perspex with a large round drill bit.
    some filling on that.
Sprayed the steel and wire casing. (Holts matt black spray paint available from car shops 1 can @ €4.50 is enough. This paint is great on drive bezels also)
Stuck the perspex to the steel with clear silicone.
Drilled two screw holes for the fan.
Sprayed the two screws for the fan.
    Screwed on the fan.
    Pic with fan.
    case2.jpg
Apoligies for poor pic, can't find any AA's, so i'm rusing my phone.
