In the month i've had my laptop, the screen has gotten pretty grimy!

Got some cleaner for glasses.. but i am afraid of damaging the screen.

Well, what does everyone recommend to clean the LCD Screen? Chemicals or non-chemicals etc?

D'ya think they'd be safe for the screen?

I'm sure they're safe for a baby's ass but my LCD screen is no baby's ass? :D

Normal kitchen roll and some glass cleaner (Windolene or the like) has always worked for me over the years.

Baby wipes is there nothing they can't clean??? :) Though I wouldn't use them on my screen. I bought screen cleaners. Thought they do look like baby wipes just not as creamy. What ever is on them seems to evaporate.

Screen cleaners, baby wipes? You guys must be made of money. I just use a bit of kitchen roll that's slightly dampened and it does the job just fine.

i have a little spray thing for my LCD screen - looks like a teensy deodorant. spray it on, wipe off with a tissue. works fine.

I checked my monitor's manual and it said:

Q: How should I clean the LCD surface?

A: For normal cleaning, use the clean, soft and fine. For extensive cleaning, please use Isopropyl alcohol. Do not use other solvents such as ethyl alcohol, ethanol, acetone, hexane, etc.

Check the manufacturers site for their specific details basquille.

Looked around on HP's site and couldn't find anything about cleaning the LCD screen.

Man, I just remembered.. the best are Alcoholic Wipes, The clean exceptionaly well, and cos they are alcohol based, they dry very quickly leaving no smears. try them!

I don't know about that... i used to use Alcohol wipes on my computer monitor. And it left it very streaky!

So i used normal glass cleaning wipes from then on. Which seemed to work much better.. but i'm not too sure 'bout using these on my Laptop screen.

never use glass cleaner by spraying the screen, just lightly spray a tissue till very slightly damp

Yup, anything with a bit of booze in it.

I use diluted gin and a Jcloth - picks up more dirt than water :D

Why do they always insist on Isopropyl alcohol?

Anyone know the science bit? Why should CH3CHOHCH3 be OK but not CH3COOH?

I swear by watered down gin!
