Whats the highest break you've got in snooker?

I managed to get 33 (ish) - no matter how much I practice I still cant beat it though :(

    AND NO TELLING PORKIES!

What is the highest possible break you can achieve in a frame of snooker?

38 was mine ,twas a good day. Usually get near to that when flowing but haven't yet beat it.

Is it 151? (147 + 4 for an opponents foul) I know its some trick like that! :)

could you not get 7 for a foul on the black initially? or you could rack up points by having the ball replaced in a snookered situation? i'm not too knowledgeable on the game, that's only a guess.

The highest possible is a 155 break. (ie. your opponent fouls & leaves you a freeball which counts as an extra red, then you take a black after it and then pot the 15 reds with blacks and clear the colours.) It's never been done in competitive play though.

My own highest is 40'ish (48 iirc), I haven't been playing much lately, so I doubt I'll improve on it anytime soon. :(

    is correct.
When you ask people the question, most will say 147 + a foul but a foul is of course not counted as part of the break.
I had a blazing row with somebody after I organised a quiz and used it as a question!

@ http:www.thesnookerclub.com (download the demo, t'is great fun!)

I can manage a break of 70ish on that, but god help me in real life! :D

61, but that was a long time ago. As I haven't played in a few years, 20s or 30s might be more realistic.

My highest was a 136 but have not played in a while. Most recent was 97, missed the yellow of the spot (kick) so if I had cleared them it would have been a 124. Fairly natural but very used to the club table as I used to play for the 1st division league team there.

I can only dream of making breaks like that... :(

Managed a break of 145 in practice and 119 in match, haven't got a 147 yet despite the slightly misleading name. Do have my own full size table at home though, so maybe that helps a little...

The party's in Dave house so...

I wish I had a snooker table. Even a 4 by 8 would do me, wouldn't have the space for a full size one. Life's so unfair...

Highest break for me was 37, had a great chance to get a higher break tho, just fumbled it

once got a 51 but with a lot of effort and a LOT of luck. The balls just kept on falling and I was powerless to stop them. On a normal night 20 to 35 tops.

I think I remember Dominic dale once got something crazy like 158 or something... If I recall he snookered Nigel bond early on who missed the reds a few times and then Dale went on to a break in the high 130's. It was a BBC televised tournament about two/three years ago.

Not sure if that all counts as the one break tho?

No I'm pretty sure it wouldn't. The break would end after every foul. My highest break was 76, which I just got recently. Previously it was a 53.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I think Alex Higgins had a 151 in a tournament. And recently I think Jimmy had a 150 in a Demo game.

Is that true? I never heard anything about it. And I'd be really surprised if it was Alex Higgings who got it! Was it televised?

Sorry to bring up such an old thread but the highest possible break is 155, which would include your opponent fouling and giving you a free ball at the start of your break, you take a colour as a red and land on the black. Your break is then 8, you get a maximum after that of 147 plus the 8 you got before you started on the reds and it gives you with 155. It is a legitimate break.

Have you managed the 147 since the last time you posted in the thread a couple of years back?!

presumably your on the pro circuit then?...not being smart or anything but claiming to have made 17 maximums is a fairly brash statement to make!...
Now, if it is somehow true, i apologise, and cant really talk, cos mine is only 78 and that was a long time ago, havnt picked up a cue in almost 2 years because of other commitments, but hoping to get back into it now:D

Made a break about 2 months ago of 60 something, which is my highest on a full sized table.

When I was about 12 or 13 i made a break of 78 on a half sixed table we used to have in the house

    i've made 143 twice in practice and 135 in a r.i.b.s.a.tournament.

Unfortunately not, I pretty much stopped striving for it, women, drink and motors took over.. I play snooker now socially not competitively but I play 9 ball pool and 8 ball pool competitively these days.

Hotspur what is your real name? I'm sure I'd know you from RIBSA, I used travel to a couple of tournaments, played in Celbridge a couple of times but never managed to get up to the Ivy Rooms.

Actually, Jamie Burnett made a break of 148 on 16 October 2004, at the Prestatyn qualifiers for the Travis Perkins UK Championship.

Steve James managed a 16 red clearance against Alex Higgins in the 1990 world championship.

    The break was 135.
