just wondering if anyone knows any places to rehearse that wont cost a fortune like studios. what we are looking for would be like a barn or community hall, something like that we could pay rent on each month and practice in when we need to. if anyone knows anything please let me know. much appreciated!!

Have a chat with your local school about use of their hall. It helps if you're a past pupil. :)

A few friends of mine back home wanted to use our old secondary school to rehearse but they had to pay a fee to cover insurance or something. It was something like €300 for the whole year to practise during any saturday evening. Maybe the principle is a complete crook and just pocketed it, but you might have to pay something similiar.

Or do what my band did; Have a drummer with V-drums and practise in his bedroom :D

That €300 is most likely public liability insurance, I have seen that before..its in case one of your band falls and tries to sue the Dept of Education!!!(technically they are liable).

You'd obviously needs somewhere with a power supply to power amps and heat etc. School hall is a good idea, if your a past pupil, perhaps offer your assistance for any school performance events in return for using their facilities..

Anyway, best of luck with it..

Hey man, I run an open mic night in Dublin city centre and a guy came down once and told me he had a place for bands to reherse. His name is Frank and his number is 087 7749859. Now i dont know anyone who went to him but give him a ring and see what the setup is.
