    Hi,

I've been with Sky for a year and a half, and I want to unsub soon (i.e. right after the superbowl). Does anyone know what exactly happens with the card? Is it invalidated?

    Thanks,
    JP

It will just load up the irish epg as normal for you but you will only be able to see the free channels.
    No RTE, TV3 etc

the card will be useless. take it out of the box. switch it off at the mains for a few minutes turn it back on, now you will have the default epg. bbc 1/2 on 101/102. bbc3/4 on 116/117 and the other freeview channels in the same place as before. do this before you decide to cancel your sub and decide if it is what you want.

No... thats not correct. The Irish EPG will load up regardless, if you leave the card out.

(Unless you have an FTV card you can swap with, which is not the case here.)

DMC - depends on the model of sky digibox you use. On my panasonic TU-DSB40, if I leave the box ON, remove the card, the digibox "locks up" for about 30 seconds, and then "Searching For Listings" appear on the screen, and the default EPG loads about a minute later. Most other models will not allow you do this (or maybe my box is just extra special :) )

That never happened on my 3 Pace or Grundigs I've ever had :)

with the last sky software upgrade the irish epg is the default one if you take out the card and turn it upside down. the only way to get around it is to reboot the box using the backup button.

I have a Grundig box. the upside down trick gets me the English EPG.
