get a socket 939 motherboard at the very least. Preferably a PCI-Express based one (with a 6600gt possibly ?).

Then an ath 64-3500+ to go with it.

At first glances, heres a few things that spring to mind:

    - If youre spending that much, go s939 and PCI-E if possible
    - That processor is way too expensive, for gaming, graphics makes a lot more difference once youre past a certain point in processor.
    - Easy decision on the graphics, you have the money, so Geforce 6800 Ultra, or if you prefer ATI, x800XT PE, or the new x850XT PE (not sure if thats out/how good it is/etc yet tho).
    - Get faster/better timings memory

Edit: I noticed you have a requirement for an AMD 3600-4000GH, Im guessing you mean gigahertz, AMD's ratings are not in ghz, fo example a 3000+ is 2.0ghz, this is a bit of spin by AMD since their processors dont reach the clock speeds of Intel, but that does not mean theyre not equal or better, if you look at benchmarks, especially gaming onces, a 3000+ will beat a 3.0ghz Intel CPU (for example). As I said earlier, you dont need one that fast anyway, get a 200-300 euroish socket 939 cpu and youre grand.

go for a amd64 3000 147euro komplett, or amd64 processor after that get 500meg ram ddr then a 128 or 256megram , i recommend powercolor radeon graphics card 9600xt 128ram dvi ,100gig hard drive at least get socket 754 mobo for the cpu compatiblity, 8x agp grahics cards are as fast as any pc-e card at present ,that will run any game even hl2 at high speed full detail antialiasing full textures ,theres no point spending 400+ on cpu, u may want to get 1gig ram if ur running firewall winxp wifi etc get audigy 2, 24bit card creative made in dublin, ram grapics card most vital 4 games once u go over 2gig cpu.that cpu is as fast as any intel cpu and has full 64bit powercompatiblity ie its futureproof ,intel has no proper 64bit cpu thats as powerful,4 ur gaming needs.

If youre going with AGP (gamer is right, PCI-E has nothing extra _yet_ :) ), then I can happily recommend the card I have in sig (Geforce 6600GT) , in CS:Source I get 100fps in the video stress test with 1280x1024 res 4xAA 16xAF, I got mine from overclockers.co.uk, theyre the only that had it, and apparently the Leadtek one is the best. Just make sure you buy the AGP verision and not the PCI-E version.

go for good fastagp card, i,d go with card above ,its fast enough to run hl2 at hires 1024,if u can wait to order it online from uk otherwise get fast agpcard from komplett 128megram ,for games u gotta get amd64bit cpu faster than intel go for3200amd64.thatll run anygame at hispeed full detail 1024resolution.u,ll have to get a compatible mobo ,compatible with amd64cpu.its also cheaper than intel and faster for games.

What do you think of this Mobo or this one. First one is the Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-087-AS) the first one on page!!Mobo

If you mean the top one, Ive heard good things about nForce4, also SLI = 2 graphics cards, or one now, easy upgrade later. Cant get much better than an SLI mobo.

I ,d go for mobo that has 1 agp and 1 pci- e graphics slot ,THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE TO GETTING pci-e grafixcard a present.u,d be better to get very fast 128meg orv 256meg grafhics card agp, nvidia best for games i think, mobo shud be amd 64bit cpu, compatible or even good mobo that just has agp slot ,if u get that mobo ,ull have to get pci-e grafix card choice is limited at present i think, wide range out there very fast cards 4 agp slots.otherwise its a good mobo, good specs i think.
